my riding partner has a Trek 750 Multi-Track that has been professionally maintained by Aaron. It came into this world with flat handlebars, thumbshifters and knobby cycle-cross tires. It has been converted to drop style handebars with Suntour command shifters. It is a 7-speed triple, tt lugged steel frame, 700c wheels, canti-brakes, w/planet bike full fenders, rear-rack and blinky light. Ready to roll, commute or tour. This bike is a veteran of several MS150's and a Sea>SJ Isles>Mt.Constitution>Vic>PA>PT>Sea tour. It has been ridden only a few times since 2000.
It should fit him fine. It is a 23"/58cm square frame. I'll be home in W.Seattle tomorrow morning to noon and would be happy to show it to your friend and have him ride it. It's simple and easy to take care of and it hasn't been brutalized by year round commuting, but would make a fine commuter (my 21" ditto did), so it is as fine a bike as you will ever find.
motivated to get it out of the basement.

A new bike (Trek 520) like this would cost ~$1100. The mechanical aspects of this bike i.e. wheel bearings, bb, headset are in new bike condition. The derailleurs shift crisp and accurate. This bike is not a mechanical nightmare waiting to happen. You will be hard pressed to find a bike of this quality and mechanical soundness.

Aaron, the lady with the dutch bike was someone I sent your way. She knows she didn't buy some fancy bike, but she's only riding to the store, maybe down to Akli from time to time.
