also, when you're driving remember to slow the fuck down when you're crossing a bicycle lane. this is less of a helmet success story and more of a bicycle path failure story, imo.

Failure on the driver and cyclist:

He slammed on his brakes flipping him.

So he caused his head to get crushed.

Really, the lesson we can take from this is that bike lanes are bad: If this guy was in the street, he almost certainly would not have been hit. Cagers are negligent, blind, stupid, drunk, and angry, but they rarely set out to kill someone intentionally, and when you're in the street, they can see you and avoid you.

Also, maybe our lucky idiot cyclist needs to slow down at street crossings and learn to use his brakes: A helmet can be useful if you crash, but it's even better not to crash.

How about this, no right on red designations for traffic turning across multi-use paths. An example of the issue of having divided paths/roadways.

He got run over here:

I didn't see mention of what way he was traveling. Granted he had the green but the truck sounds like it may have been more visible to him than he was to the truck before he got squashed. I'm not even sure what a help would do in this case save for prevent some scratches maybe, seems like the foam would have compressed but he would have still had about the same pressure on his head without a helmet.

On a related note, Strange but True: Helmets Attract Cars to Cyclists ... by 3.35 inches. If you're a woman you get a bonus of 2.2 inches.

(ah, the wind's just right for dick jokes)
