To the individual who thought it would be humorous to make fun of my ignorance. Why did you think it would entertaining to make fun of me when I freely admit that I know next nothing about exercise and bicycle riding? Why do you find it necessary to make fun of my weight when I provided you with the information that I am chubby? I want to be fit, I want to be thin, and that is why I started bicycle riding.
That is really fucked up to post under my name. You actually went on Cascade’s forum, discovered one of my threads, and then made fun of me on this forum. You couldn’t just offer me advice, because that was what I was seeking, advice and support. Instead you decided to ridicule me and fun of me. You’re a real fucking asshole.
Yes I did not know the importance of stretching.
Yes I did not know the importance of hydrating.
Yes I did not know a bike needs to be fitted.
Yes I am really ignorant to exercising wisely.
Just in case you want some more material to make fun of me. I’ve now lost 20 LBS, and I have reached other milestone goals I’ve set for myself.

Dear Shane L:
Your posts look like internet trolling. One of the things which people do to avoid this is to read the message board so that their posts are in context, and also they do a little research using the great oracle so they can ask intelligent questions.
I'm sorry your feelings might have been hurt if you really are seriously asking for help, but you need to do a little research on your own before just asking every bike form you can find.
See you on the road!

Who ever did that, they're a real asshole. I would like to know why they did that. Yes I am a chubby guy on a bike. But at least I am 20 LBS lighter than when I started, and my waist has shrank 4 inches. I do not understand why they just can't say you're doing fantastic and offer me tips on how to stretch or something.
I've since learned my own recipe for a sports drink, and I educated myself on how to stretch. But you know, I have at least 30 LBS of extra weight, so its is hard for me to stretch.

Intelligent Questions? Please enlighten me to as what an intelligent question might be. Because seriously, every question I can think of is an intelligent question to me. I know hardly nothing about exercising, I never exercised a day in my life. I know hardly anything about nutrition, I ate like a pig my entire life, and it was my eating habits that landed me in the hospital and led me to exercise and eating healthy now.
So wise one, please do enlighten this modest apprentice unto your ways. Because I really do want to learn, and I really am that FUCKING IGNORANT. And yes I am a trolling fuck in search of advice. So either offer me advice, or don't advise me, but please do not take me as a fucking joke, because I am serious about my health and fitness.

Making fun of each other is part of the TOS.
Just for the sake of argument, what thread in this forum are you talking of? Can you please point it out so we can address this or link to the Cascade to prove your point?
Without some specifics to go on you sound ridiculous...sorry.
If you're correct we handle these at the Octagon...TOS again.

I went looking for the thread again, but I cannot find it, this happened about a week ago. I just got an email back from the Admin on this forum that he did not erase it and feel free to respond. So I am responding, that was fucked up.
I got a an email from the administrator from the Cascade forum asking if I was for real, and if I was for real, I probably did not write this. He then provided me with a link to this forum, somebody using my last name Shane Lees, making fun of everything that I said on the Cascade forum. Chris who works at the Seattle Weekly asked me (who wasn't me) if I was the same individual who worked at the Seattle Weekly, which I am.
I cannot find the thread, maybe it was titled “Teach Me Your Ways” I dunno.
In my circle of association, when an individual admits their own ignorance, and asks for information so they can then educate them selves, that attribute is usually respected and information is exchanged openly without of ridicule, because such individuals are regarded as intellectually honest. Perhaps it’s different amongst some bicyclists.

I see, so asking individuals who are doing what I was attempting to do at that time is frowned upon? So the exchange of information is not administered openly and freely. Some of the inquiries I made were what internet sites I could visit, and I was sharing my experiences about dehydration. Because I was ignorant, I did not know what I was doing.
Really this is very enlightening for me. Thanks for the insight.

this is really silly. two search engines i can recommend: yahoo and google.
enter things like nutrition, hydration, exercise, etc and i bet you'll get days, weeks, and months worth of reading. you don't have to know what questions to ask only the general subjects you're asking about, that's how search engines work.
and why are you asking .83 assholes when most of us ride around drunk all the time? an internet forum is a stupid place to find general information.
maybe go to the library and check out one of those 8th grade health textbooks and read the chapters on nutrition and exercise. maybe just get on your bike and ride it until you're tired. and then keep doing that.
are you trying to lose weight or become an athlete? because it sounds to me like losing weight should be your first priority in that.
here, finally, some friendly advice: the only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume. you can do that in whatever varying healthy or unhealthy way that you choose.
p.s. i still feel like this is some made up character to see which one of us will take him seriously. because real people who are smart enough to know how to read and use a computer can't be so stupid to not know how to use a library and do some research, are they?

First of all, I have no reason to lie I am being very sincere and truthful, you can believe me or not I don’t care.
Second I did do what you have suggested, and I was asking for more information on the Cascade forum on what other stretches I could perform, and what science was involved in warming up before exercising, because I could not discover that information on the internet. I was given some book titles and I have since then purchased them and I am educating myself.
Yes I do know how to burn fat, I’ve actually lost a considerable amount of weight now, and it is a goal of mine to eventually enter competitions when I am at my ideal weight. When I first started I just wanted to burn fat and become fit. However now I’ve discovered that I can do things that I never knew I was capable of performing before.
However I am vexed as to why when an individual makes such inquiries, that information cannot be past along freely. Really it is very flummoxing to me. In my circle of association when people ask for information, they just offer it freely. Yes its true that people can use Yahoo, Google, but what is wrong with just offering your knowledge?
I’ve since then learned a considerable amount of information, the books I’ve started reading yield a breadth of knowledge I was very ignorant of, but there is a lot more I need to learn yet. For instance, I am now learning about correct posture while performing 20 + mile long rides. I did not know that a saddle and posture are very important while conducting ones trek. It does help to elevate pain. I just learned that last week.

Nope, not just water. I've learned how to make my own sports drink, organic substances are better for athletes than that chemical-sugar shit that is in major sports drink. I'll be strapped with my own mixture of honey, lime juice, salt, and water. Plus I'll have hazel nuts and cranberries. If you want I'll share it with you on the weekends when I go on my long rides. If you would like to join my friends and I in a ride that is.

I read your post on the Cascade website and I find it hard to believe that anyone here would make fun of that, especially there's stuff like this here.
I haven't seen anything resembling something making fun of your post here. Even Googling the Internets didn't find anything, and The Google finds everything.

You're correct, there is so much more worth making fun of. I just naively thought that when an individual admits their dispositions and asks for assistance, that such an inquiry would not be met with ridicule. I've never encountered a stupid question when it was asked with sincerity.
But what the hell right? I've met many wonderful people now since I've started this journey, and there are assholes in everywhere one goes.

1 can of either orange juice or lime juice.
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of honey
1 gallon of water
I like to use lime juice because it does not get deluded as much as the OJ does. If you're going to use OJ add some concentrated lime juice or lemon juice to the mixture, like maybe two tablespoons full. Be careful not to add too much salt, the recipe I discovered calls for 1 teaspoon of salt, that is too salty for my taste. 1/2 teaspoon is much better.

there is a huge difference in the honey prices at the store. do you spend extra to get the fancy or organic ones, or is it ok to just use the basic safeway brand? I'm figuring it's really all the same, and I'd just as soon save the money. Also, does it hurt to add extra honey?

I am betting that you're correct on honey. Safeway has some really good organic products at affordable prices. However there is a health food store on in Tacoma, west of the Chevy's, that has some wonderful organic products and really affordable honey. Its right next to the Chinese restaraunt The Great Wall. I forget the name of the place now, but its right on 45th street. Its a great place to shop for vitamins and whole organic foods if one is on a budget. I used to live in Tacoma for 25 years.

so it there a specifc thing about the organic honey that is imprtant to the working of it in the energy drink? regular (notnorganic) honey has extra stuff that will interfere with the workings of the other ingredients?
I want to get the stuff that works but I don't go in for that hippie stuff really. is it just that you are afraid of the chemicals in regular honey?
I will totally chec the place you mentioned, although I have not ever seen it. its farther than i ride my bike rigt now but the only time if feel really good about diriving the radvan is when it is for things to make me better at the biking and I totally think this qualifies.

This is the thing. With organic honey, you know you're just getting honey. The crops the bees pollinate may be sprayed with pesticides and fertilizers that may not be good for you. Of course the argument could be made that before America went all organic crazy nobody seemed to be affected from these pesticides and fertilizers. When I purchase my food, I just want the food without chemicals, non-organic fertilizers, and pesticides. If you’re not concerned with this, any honey will be suitable for your home-made sports drink. Plus with making your own drink, you will save money and have a better tasting drink.
You can add as much honey as you want. I try not to add too much honey, because I like the taste of the lime juice, too much sugar and it becomes over powering.

I hate to interrupt this fun thread with something serious, but cheap honey is often blended with corn syrup. So if you want honey make sure that it is actually honey.
Local honey from the farmer's markets is usually not much more than the cheap safeway stuff and it hasn't travelled long distances to get to you either.
One of the honey producers that sells at the Pike Place Market has 2 gallon buckets (24 pounds) for reasonable prices. I buy from him when making mead.
