Does anyone have a blowtorch I can borrow? It's for something bike-related.

Thanks for the offer, but I can't be responsible for the huge release of toxic fumes produced by the burning of both Derrick's place and the Buc--not to mention that if Derrick himself were torched as well it might be the environmental disaster of the century.

I've got an oxy-acetylene torch in the Georgetown Shop. You're welcome to come down and use it when I'm there.

That sounds like the kind of thing I would likely burn my face off using, but if you aren't too nervous about a novice using it, then I'm cool. In any case, thanks for the offer. Are you down there on a regular schedule or is it catch as catch can?

I'm in and out the next couple of weeks, but we can make a date. I have a bunch of stuff to do down there anyway.

Like getting started on some Xtracycle Centerstands.

You, me Colin and Val need to have a pow-wow.

Val is the idea man, you guys have the know how and tools, I can help finance 50 of them and then we can sell them and see where it goes.

Step one: Loose the square tubing. Go for round so you can just tap the tube for the carriage bolt.
Step two: Step two.

I'm immensely busy or out of town for the next two weeks, but after that: loan me an xtracycle with the stand and I'll reverse engineer it and modify the design to suit our tooling, run the design by Val for approval, and quote you a price for fifty.

You got it Brandon,

You can ride to my shop and pick up my Xtracycle with a stand or I could ride it to a Thursday ride and you could ride it home. A cargo bike can haul a second bike, ya know!

I agree that round tubing might be easier/faster/cheaper to build.

I told Val that he would get a commission on each stand since it is his idea.
That seems fair to me and the fact that he is the main contact for customers. The Xtracycle crowd knows him, but he is unable to meet the demand right now. Either way, we need to give him credit because it is th right thing to do.

After the first 50, I envision, Xtracycle stocking them thru their website. I could easiely stock 5 at a time.

I have oxy/propane and air/propane torches. What are you trying to do? Evenings work pretty well for me and I'm probably more available than badhill (is that Brandon)?

I can bring a standard propane soldering torch on the cargo bike ride if you don't need tons of heat.
