I rode my bike in the rain yesterday. I know it's not the right season for this discussion, but what kind of rain jackets do ya'll have? I've got the $50 cannondale one which is great in any conditions, except heavy rain.
Also, does anyone with a Tubus Tara have their headlight mounted to the rack? What light did you use? How does it work?
Had I been going to bed earlier every night? Have I been sleeping later? Has Joe been in charge longer and longer?

I have one of the el cheapo REI brand jackets, which is pretty much at the end of its useful life.
I can't remember the last time I used a rain jacket, though. It just seems unnecessary and much less compfortable ever since I started wearing wool garments for riding. I have a merino wool sweater from value village that keeps me dry in anything but a serious downpour--it dries fairly quickly, too.

everysingle time i start up firefox and try to post it "encounters an error" and has to shut down.
it only happens if i haven't started firefox for a while, however it happens every time i haven't opened firefox in a while. if i then immediately restart firefox it's fine.
also it occurs exactly, and only when i hit enter at the end of typing my stupid little comments.
does this happen to anyone else?

That is an old style Tara, but you can do the same thing on a current one. The light is a Lumotec but this works with any light that mounts via a 5 or 6mm bolt. The stainless steel strap came from a rear rack.

Have you tried completely uninstalling it and re-installing?
Have you tried cursing it before starting it for the first time in a while? Because maybe it's all the cursing after it fails that makes it work the second time.

I have some novara super cheapo windbreaker I wore, and it's surprisingly insulating. It's not waterproof, but that's what smartwool is for.
After 45 miles yesterday, I'm not sure that there was anything but a plastic bag which would keep me dry, but a real rain coat would have been nice. A wool sweater would have done what my knickers did, which is get soaked and stick to my body.
Something like these chaps would have been fantastic, but funny looking, and I'm not wearing hiking rain pants on a bike.
Also, some fenders beyond race blades would have been fantastic, to keep the general B-G trail schmutz off my shoes. You live and you learn.
