Edited to add some details.

Per this thread, we're going on a ride to Sunday, July 8, to some yarn shops (for the knitters) and places of libation (for those who want to be libated). Everyone is invited except Henry, whose mother requested we not let him play with sharp objects.

Route:

Leave Red Square at 11:30am. Yarn prefunk at Weaving Works (opens at 11am).

Phinney Ridge
Yarn: Fiber Gallery. (open 12-6).
Beer: Kort Haus (if they open at noon, El Chupacabra or 74th St. otherwise)
Underage option: Red Mill

Queen Anne
Yarn: Hilltop Yarn (open 12-5)
Beer: Hilltop Ale House
Underage option: numerous. I suggest Queen Anne Cafe for a milkshake, or if they're packed, Flame, the burger place next door. Both are a couple of doors down from Hilltop Ale House.

West Seattle
Yarn: Seattle Yarn (open 10-5)
Beer: Beveridge Place Pub (open 2pm-)
Underage option: ABR/C&P Coffee Company

Capitol Hill
Yarn: Stitches (open 11-7)
Beer: Bill's Off Broadway (which is all ages)

Approximate route here: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1000260

We've got one side of a spoke card thanks to Dane (see below). Lucia should be working on the other half.

Any chance we can delay this? Sarah and I would love to go, but we'll be out of the country until July 20th. Perhaps a Sunday following that? The 22nd or the 29th?

I don't want to be a jerk, but I don't think so --- I've already announced it elsewhere. Plus the 22nd is no good for me, and the 29th no good for Lutella.

But, to be more positive, when I was talking about this with my wife, she suggested the place in Madison Valley. Oh, and there's a place in Lake Forest Park. Oh, and a nice place out on Bainbridge.

So I suggest a second ride, sometime in August or September, with different stops. I'll let you pick a date, Alistair (I already suggested Aug 5, 25, 26, and can go digging for September possibilities if you like, or just ignore us like I ignored everyone else). Locations can be discussed here or on the first ride.

Nice spoke flag. Get those printed as stickers and we're all good.

As long as there's something to come back to. Sarah and I will look forward to an August one. We both have Sundays off, so any Sunday after July 20th works for me.

I'm actually doing some research now. The Kort Haus is next door to the Fiber Gallery, described by Lee and various people online as 'a total dive bar', and features exotic meat burgers (ostrich, bear, boar, etc.) and an extensive vegetarian menu (I shit you not). Plus (and this is what sold me), the exotic burgers are 'buy one, second 1/2 price' on Sundays.

Kort Haus opens at noon on Sunday according to one site, 2pm according to another. If it's 2pm, we'll default to 74th St. or El Chupacabra, which supposedly open at 11:30am. Those with kids can hang out at Red Mill.

Just a reminder: this is Sunday. I've finalized the stops, and the weather is supposed to be great.

I'll be making spoke cards tomorrow. If you're coming, please pipe up so I'll have some idea of how many to print up.

I'll be at least 2 riders, and I'm working on rounding up a friend's knitting circle that's started biking more. Should be a nice relaxing ride after the 7 hills.

also: count me in. more for the barley and hops than the yarn shops... I have a bad habit of buying yarn and needles and never doing anything with them.

In true slackerstyle, I have just put something together and submitted it to our ridemaster. Shall it be revealed to you now? Please do not be disappointed as it does not involve pipes (as in "please pipe up" if you're going to do the ride) or Lisa Bonet.

I still have to laminate the spoke cards (screwed that up on my first attempt), but otherwise I am good to go.

If you want to join us late, can't find Red Square, etc., my cell is
two hundred six, three hundred thirty, four thousand, nine hundred fourteen.

I want to thank Greg again for organizing this ride. It was fun! Also, thanks to all for the few extra minutes here and there so I could knit this thing using yarn from each shop:

Knit at each of the four yarn shop stops...

Maybe it should become knit graffiti. Or maybe it should burn, burn, burn at a future Fremont firepit!
