We need to terrorize the north end for a change. I suggest we go north to LCW and zoobomb that hill into Lake Forrest Park and go to Kenmore and hit the Taco truck. We'd need to be there BEFORE 9. There a plethora of dive bars or stores there and we could see if a firepit exists at Heart attack, uh...i mean Log Boom park or go out to the Velodrome as Langston suggested.
For the eairly outers, they can take the BGT (and Aaron, dont EVEN whine about that, you big baby!) back to town, or we could wrap up at the CIP.
What say you?

We can hardly make it to the northgate taco truck by 9:00, Trevor in your infinite North End experience would mind making a general map of where you were thinking though.
We have also threatened to make further conquests to the east and hit the Rogue Ale House in Issaquah. I'm not say that has to happen this week but one of these "damn it is still light out" Thursdays would be good.
oh and speaking of daylight I stoped to read a King County Trail Map Kiosk and the trails close 30 minutes after sunset till 30 minutes before sunrise. So no one break the law and ride at night. An if some ass tell you to get on a trail at night when you are on the road you can tell them the trail is closed.

Go about 15 blocks east from Northgate and you are on Lake City Way. It's all downhill to Kenmore from there and easy to maintain 20+.
Not the nicest road to ride on though, the lanes aren't that wide and cars like to go 50 when the speed limit is 30 or 35. I take it when I'm running late and trying to get north.
I'm pretty sure that there is a fire pit at logboom park.
If you ride all the way to the velodrome then you'll have a 50 mile night easily by the time you get back to Westlake.

We've gone out Lake City several times before. My only gripe is that i prefer to spend nice nights, like tonight promises to be, on pleasant western facing beaches. Not shithole parking lots in the suburbs.
Think we could make it to Coulon Park before sunset?
What about swimming in Lake WA then heading over to puget sound for a fire?
East from downtown to Howell Park Beach on Lake WA (sort of in Madison Park area), then head west again to one of your normal fire pits.

According to my nerdery we have not been to Carkeek park since april 5th, which i would rate as a favored north end destination in close proximity to food, fire supplies, has a west word facing beach and then back up to the fire ring after dark. Where is the picture of me corking derrick?

Carkeek is one of my favorite destinations. It was even better before they closed all of the unpaved trails to bikes.

I'm not a pre-funker, but I've heard noc noc has a good happy hour and it's basically the same distance from westlake as the whiskey bar.
IIRC we went south two weeks ago, and north last week, so how about going east? Per Henry's suggestion, just scrolling around google maps I see a few parks on the eastern shore of lake washington to pick from.

carkeek sounds nice. it's far enough away that it gets newbs a good ride in and doesnt get them lost, has a nice store by it, and works for a fire, either on the beach or up on the hill
I'm up for a trip to the brewery. The weather is not going to be better than tonight for a long ride. And according to Joeball's reliable nerdery, we are near the apex of the bell curve for daylight hours. As an added bonus, if we get to Sammamish State Park early enough there will still be plenty of jetskis buzzing around.
Or maybe since it's east of Mercer Island we should talk about it for another year before we do it.

man, lake sammamish state park is NICE. and it's legal to drink there if you have a picnic shelter. I think we should reserve a shelter, and go over on a weekend and have an awesome BBQ.

When they put in new sign posts a few years back they got no bike logos.
I always like biking in via the main entrance and out via Piper's Creek Trail. You can also get out via the Clay Pit Trail (I think that is the one) following along a creek and end up about 20% of the way into the Blue Ridge route.

For the noob break-in, this would be IDEAL. longish ride, lots to drink, good chance of getting lost on the way back...sounds like another winner idea from the Angry Hippy.
