In the google analytics thread I promissed to make some beer if the ads went away. They went away, so I'm making beer.

I was going to do it this weekend but the weather is too damn nice so I'm going hiking instead. This gives us a week to figure out what I should make.

I brew 10 gallon batches but my idea is to brew two 10 gallon batches and save 5 gallons of each for some point83 event.

On rides we've talked about making a 1.083 original gravity beer (that would be around 8-9% alcohol and heading into barleywine territory), but that is going to be pretty damn heavy when it is 80 degrees out. The other way of measuring specific gravity is called Plato but a 8.3 degrees plato beer would be super light "near beer" of around 3.2%.

I promissed another friend that I'd have some fresh (german style, not the crappy northwest style) hefeweizen made before he visits in July. So that'll be one batch (and if folks don't want a weizen for whatever reason then moer for me). For other beer I was thinking about making a IPA. Any other requests?

I can also do 5 gallons now and 5 in the fall, or 5 each season, or 5 whenever, it doesn't matter to me.

Brewing date is probably 6/9 depending on the weather (I brew outside). Anyone who is interested in the process will be welcome to drop by.

Awesome. I've been meaning to get back into making beer- my friend and I made some good if amateurish attempts to brew two summers ago, but never really got it down to a science.

Do you do full grain brewing?

Yes. The hefeweizen really needs to be full grain otherwise you get dreck. The IPA can be full grain or partial extract depending on what procedure people want to see.
