I think it is that time again...lets have a wrench party.
I'll have a headset to install and some bike assembly. I might want to rebuild a S/A 3speed hub too.
You know the drill, .83 member or by Aaron's approval. Quality 6-pack of IPA or Stout gets you in the door.
7:00pm till ~11 ish often

Awesome. Count me in. The headset on my commuter is shot. Plus, I want to watch Aaron drink all that beer and dance around like a monkey.

The shop closes at 7:00 so after then, depending upon attendance we often run till about 11:00.

I talked to him about it last night, he said to post it, so i did. He can void it obviously but the thread demonstrates the interest. The last one was pretty small but there was a whole keg of free beer!

Judging from past experience the following sentence, "I will be there" should translate to mean: "Can't make it."
I will be there.

I doubt it. I have a something going on that Monday. Which is the bummer. But I did get the framing done for my workbench.
Anyone know someone who can cut stone for me?

Not long after I get it done. Here's what's left:
Phase 1:
Get the stone cut to size (Anyone know where I can get this done in Seattle? Please?)
Drill the back for bolts
Drill the work surface for bolts
Trim 1/4" off 11: 1/4"x20 bolts and 4: 1/2"x13 bolts
Mount the work surface
Mount the toolboard to the back
Mount the toolboard/back to the work bench
Drill the stone for vice mounting
Mount the stone to the work surface
Mount the vice to the stone/work surface
Shellac the toolboard
Hang tools
Phase 2:
Buy custom chair mat to protect carpet (72"x120" or so)
Wire electrics
Trim the front, sides and top in red oak
Mount a 1/2" cabinet grade sheet of plywood to the back
Shellac the trim and back
Design and build the socket trays
Design and build the housing and cable roll holders (to hold about 6-7 rolls)
Build and mount the workbench support frame
I'm guessing late this month, early next month given family travel plans and other commitments.

what are the current and final dimensions of the stone? You are planning on transporting it to be cut though?
There is a stone slab, marble place near the SkyLark off of Delridge in West Seattle. I've not been there though and I don't recall the name but could look, Looks like the operation that would have what you need.

Do you have a shop or is this for your personal workbench?

you could go with concrete counter tops, thus eliminating the need for cutting stone.

It's in my dining room, so personal workbench.
As to workbench surfaces, I already have the rock, so alternatives are not being considering as I have what I want it to be already.

Ignore the workbench hijacking, wrench party tonight, 7pm, at ABR, IPA or Stout 6-pack or Growler (from Beveridge) for admission.
I'll be rebuilding a S/A 3-speed and helping out.

I'm there, bringing a mixed 6-pack of IPA and Stout. I have a few projects to bring along and will be there to help out.

I am interested in attending an S/A wrench party!
Internal gear hubs are a mystery to me.
I suppose I could read and learn about them and find what I would like to know on the interweb, but partying is a lot more fun!
Thanks Aaron for hosting the wrench party last night.
