Let's go someplace different.
It's time to get in to some trouble.

Let's ride a ferry Ride Tonight!

35 minute crossing! only $7.50 each.

Some of us who have whored ourselves to Corporate America will offer fare-scholarships to studends, starving artists, and hobos.

Wow. I was planning to bail out on tonight's ride to catch up on some artwork I need to finish so I can make some money, but this sounds so awesome I might come out with you guys and spend some money instead.

i know i'm an ass, but what exactly are we going to do once we get out there? i vote for poulsbo. or two blocks into town for pizza and beer.

also, do we have a plan for what we're going to do when we miss the last ferry back?

just asking. i'm all for it, of course.

Two teams.

Stanglor will lead group home via the Tacoma narrows bridge.
I'll sneek 25 people in to a hotel room.

Team Iron-Man, and team Awkward Breakfast.

Either way, it will be awesome.

I'm down for this plan of action. If we're going to do it, let's find us a nice beer-y destination at least a half hour ride from the ferry, so as to make it worth it. We could save $7.50 and just drink on the dock if we're not going to actually ride anywheres.

herckers, it might turn out to be a halfway decent night for a ferry assisted drunken ride.

I might be done with work in time...or not....

poulsbo is only ten miles on the other side of the ferry. take the highway up the hill and all the way there. nice easy ride. just make sure you know when the last ferry is. the time stated is the time that it actually leaves the dock.

fuck, this is the one night in a long time i cant make it out. have a good time guys.

downtown poulsbo (left at the main light) is nice. there is a little bar that would be perfect for point83 down on the waterfront.

a bainbridge tour ending with drinks at The Dock in Winslow would probably also be nice. bainbridge is a nice place to ride.

i was planning on being lame and ducking out due to rain, but this is starting to get appealing.

what time is the ferry you plan on catching?? i don't know if i can make the WLC, but i might be able to make the ferry before it leaves.

Apart from downtown Winslow, there's a business strip on Bainbridge where Fletcher Bay Rd. meets New Brooklyn. Otherwise, I think your choices are Poulsbo or Suquamish. Or take the ferry to Bremerton. Or just ride around Bainbridge Island, then drink in downtown Winslow.

If we're going to Bainbridge, we're going to be catching the 8:10 ferry, the next one after that leaves at 8:55pm.
Return boats leave Bainbridge at 9:45, 11:35 & 12:55. After that we're sleeping on the Island.

If we go to Bremerton (60 min ride, yuck town) we're looking at the 7:50pm boat westward. After that one is a 9:00pm boat.
Return boats are 9:00 and 11:40pm, after which we're playing "find the soap" with a bunch of Navy gays.

This is a more pleasant alternative to the last few miles on the highway. I've taken it before.

Ferry schedule here. Sunset is around 9:05, crossing time is 35 minutes to Bainbridge.

the casino is another option. just on the other side of the agate pass bridge (the bridge that goes off of bainbridge on the other side)... is a CASINO. it's great. drinks, food, gambling, indians, smoking!

i lost 50 bucks there the other day.
it's not as far as poulsbo, but still gives a nice ride once you get off the ferry

I want to go back to Halls Hill Rd and see exactly what I hit. I think my old headlight is still there too.

I say we go to Hall Hills road on zanimals and the FHR's behalves and then hit the casino. With hope, they will have already started opening up the fireworks stands for next month and we can get into some real trouble!

We can go have fun riding around in the Grand Bainbridge Island Forest, then head back into down for beer at the pub sort of near the ferry.

Be serious, it's a ride night. Cut it out already with the advertising.

As for the "forest" idea. I don't know what it is, but if it includes off-road then we definitely shouldn't do it as it would exclude a lot of us.

All of it is doable on a road bike. In the photo above I think my bike has 23mm tires. It's like riding on the main trail through Ravenna Park except that the Grand Forest (or whatever silly name it has) is much larger and there are many more trails.

I'm going to be there at 7 and see what the plans are. I'm not sure if I want to hang around until a 8:10 ferry, but going to Bainbridge is a nice idea. Bremerton on the other hand seems like a lousy idea, especially since the ferry is so long.

On one of our weekend rides we should meet at the UW and ride up to Edmonds, take the E/K ferry, ride down along the water to Poulsbo, then loop around Bainbridge and get some beers in Winslow before coming back on the ferry. It's a good 50-60 mile ride depending on the route and almost all of it is low traffic good times stuff.

I think that my one concern with riding to bainbridge tonight is that it's a 35 minute ferry ride. I'd rather ride my bike somewhere for that time, as by the time we get to winslow and start riding it's going to be 8:45. I know we won't be catching the 7:20, since it seems that bike time means we leave WLC at 7:30.

Anything decent on the east side?

because in reality people are pre-funking until 7:00, half our gang doesnt follow the internets during the day and the boat leaves at 7:20, meaning we'd have to be on it at 7:00 to get off. Just ain't going to happen, but it will give us time to go to Uwajimaya or something for ferry beer.

That was my thought also (beer at Uwajimaya).

Also, I want to stab James Gosling in his dark blackened heart.

Damn, I'm wiped out from the last 4 days of Hell^WBellvue and need to be domestic tonight. I like Alex's forest ride idea. I also like the above for a weekend ride. I don't think I'm realistically able to ride a full century (comfortably) yet. Lets do this soon.
