My kid is camping Wed-Fri on the south side of Deception Pass State Park. I plan to bike there to help out, and bike back. Anyone want to join me? I leave at 6:30am Wed (June 13).

<crickets>

Yeah, well, anyone want to bike back with me? I leave at around noon Friday (June 15). It's about 50 miles on Whidbey Island, and 20 miles from the Mukilteo Ferry back to my house in NE Seattle.

<crickets>

Okay, then, anyone know a good place to hang out in the late morning in Oak Harbor if I get there ridiculously ahead of schedule?

I wish I didn't have a job so i could ride with you!
I would hang out here - the Captian Whidbey Inn with a pot of mussels and a brew. The inn has a nice little bar with outdoor seating if the weather permits and lunch and breakfast offerings depending on how early you arrive. The Inn is 100 years old this year and is made of madrona wood logs. The ride from Coupeville on Madrona Drive is very scenic overlooking the mussel pens in Penn Cove.

I'm contemplating giving up my job and going Amish. They can still ride bikes right?

Hmmm, I think the drinking and using the interblag might be a flaw in my plan though.

Also, can they shave? The beard is a total deal breaker.

Looks good, thanks. I'm now also considering where to go if I want to play hooky, or where to refuel on the way back in case the tofu dogs they're giving me for Friday lunch aren't enough. Mussels seem like a capital idea.
