This sounds like a good opportunity to bring my fanc(ier) bike out for a shakedown ride. Do you have an idea of what this ride looks like in terms of mileage?

the loop is about 15 miles plus going there and back.

It's right around 30 miles for the whole thing. It's a great ride, one of my favorites.
Watch out for the Mercer Island cops, they've been ticketing cyclists who don't come to full stops at stop signs.
