I've already paid, so if I wear a pirate bib, too, will I be pirating the pirate ride?

let me go on record saying, "i believe caskade bicycle club is a terrorist organization and their actions should be scrutinized by the federal government."
thank you,
that is all.

If you spell it with a K, it makes it more fun!

you could also adopt the nomenclature of the internet elite and spell it "ca$cade".

My problem with ca$cade (thank you, Lee) is exactly the opposite--they're too much about shying away from things that would get the mouthbreathers calling them a terrorist org. In other words, they're a chickenshit club that's happy to take the money of their members and spend it all to keep a mere toehold for bicycles in this city, when they could be just as effective for free if they got their members to ride in CM.
That said, I bought an STP bib.

Cascade. Tee Hee. You remind me of a Cascade free daily ride I bailed out on after the ride leader yelled at me "Get in the bike lane!"
Me: "I'm going the speed limit"
Ride Leader repeats: "Get in the bike lane! You are holding up traffic!"
Me: "_______" - Leaving ride. I was tempted to dent his car, but he was riding a bike.
Kascade has done some good things and some great things. I consider cramming 9,000 bicyclists on the same route at the same time a great thing.

So it is OK to make fun of Ka$Kade and not the DBs?
Why does everyone know BtAH joking but did not see that I was joking?
Ben will swear up and down that he is serious, but I was truthfully joking and you all thought I was serious.
Irony!

because Ca$cade is legitimatly ridiculous and repressive of bicycling. There is so much more material to work with regarding Ca$cade than db. Noone cares about your db drama.

We used to have a link on the Ca$cade website, but they removed it because we pirate their rides. They really cannot get over it!
We should all love each other. As someone I look up to (Chalo) once said, the more the merrier! Hell, we all are on bikes!

didn't some dude in LA say somethin' like this too???
What are they gonna do, kick us off the road? If we use our own shit, who cares if we ride on "their" path? JUST NO MEATWAGON RIDES!!!

Exactly what we told them about the FHR, but their staff is really upset we do it. Their members, on the other hand, love us.
I had a long discussion with Chuck Ayers, the E.D. of Cascade. He thinks we should pirate their rides on another day. I explained that we get folks out that would not normally do their ride and that more people on the road is "funner". The more the merrier! He did not agree, but as you all know CM is "awesomer" the more folks their are. He did agree that CM is a positve thing, once I explained that it is just a fun ride.

the thing i find most sad is that you will get more grief for riding your bicycle on the stp route the weekend of the stp than you would if you just drove the route in your car. they're more tolerant of psv's than they are of simple self-supported cyclists.

without a doubt!
maybe we should do it in reverse and on the other side of the road so the squids dont heckle us?
just kidding about the last part...but a PTS would be entertaining.

Is it possible to get the pi symbol or 3.14 or 22/7? Thanks.

P.S. Anybody got any panniers they can spare for July and the first half of August?
Yes, but they seem kind of cheap. And you need a rack.
One that isn't on your chest.

I have a rack. And as long as they are waterproof, it doesn't matter. Otherwise I have to spend like a hundred dollars that I really don't have.

Tim is a friend of mine and I told him about the pirate bibs and he thought they sounded cool. He's a cool guy and I expect will come on a ride as soon as he is done with his thesis project.
Bucket panniers are easy to make and are waterproof. I have some waterproof Ortliebs backrollers that I could loan, what are they being used for?
I dont know how waterproof they are, but you can always pack in plastic bags (old backpacking trick)
Stop by on your way home tonight maybe? Otherwise I will try my hardest to meet up with you next week.

Tim,
IF (and it looks like a big if) there is a pirate ride, we don't "do" numbers...show up and ride, have fun, drinks lots, have more fun.
Keep watching this thread to see if these lazy mosquito weenies actually put together something. I'm not hearing of much interrest, and i'm going fishing that weekend...so screw it!

I've got some of these you can use:
Only mine are orange. They are definitely water-proof. I haven't used them a lot, and it would be cool to have them go on a trip so somebody can get some use out of them. PM me if you wanna pick them up.

Wow. Pannier offers are coming out all over the place, I love you guys! The ones on craigslist are sold out of rear panniers, I saw that ad before I posted here. I don't want to deal with plastic bags or heavy-ass buckets as I'm a little-ish lady, biking around for a month straight living out of them, and pretty low-maintenance as far as packing goes. And this is for my aforementioned trip to San Diego.
P.S. In case I didn't already make myself clear, I love you guys.

so just a head count- i'm doing this, i know henry is and so is austin. anybody else, other than allison and johnny?
also, in direct opposition of my earlier statement, i am not paying for this because i am a lazy asshole and a dead-weight. if you're still thinking about making pirate bibs, derrick, i'm in for one :)

If you want to eat the food provided at the stops, that's why you should pay.

Me too! I want a pirate bib. But one of my classmates gave me her registration for an actual bib. Is it totally contradictory to rock both? I guess it is... But I wanna be cool like you guys...
I second the question on what's happening once people are in Portland? So far I have no plans. Lounging and tippin back cold ones with other bikers sounds fun, yes?
