buy it, throw all the parts away and turn it into a fixie?

... oh sorry, that's just what will most likely happen to it if someone else buys it.

I'd buy it, expecting that the cable and the tires are probably useless, or won't be good for long. The Super Course was a higher-end Raleigh back in the day, but expect that the wheels will be shitty steel and the brakes scary when wet. If you're really out of luck with it, like, worse case scenario, it will be a frame designed for 27" wheels and hard to upgrade with modern stuff.

That's what I was thinking, but the details claim the bike has 700C wheels. Were there ever 700C steel wheels?

Did Araya make steel rims? I've mostly seen their name on aluminum rims.

I'm guessing that the wheels aren't really 700C. It might be worth checking them out in person.

I had a nice ride this morning with a friend who was on a Raleigh Supercourse. He rides that bike everywhere and likes it. I don't think that any of the original components are on there though.

since the supercourse came with 700c weinmann alloy rims back in 1978, i'd say langston is full of shit. minimal research > talking out your ass.

the same guy seems to be listing a bunch of other "in box" bikes on ebay at a lower price, i'd shoot for closer to $300.
