Except that when you ride in Critical Mass you become one part of the whole. So now the rest of us have to deal with some angry fucking redneck who thinks all cyclists are a bunch of knife-wielding pricks.

I'll give you A-C, but I'm not sure that long term this will serve to make motorists less likely to cut me off when passing, etc. I admire you for telling the truth, because when I heard about the letter I assumed it was a motorist that had pulled a knife. Threating his tires was a bad idea because it's easy to misinterpret as threating his body, but we all make mistakes, and that goes double in the heat of the moment. Your reaction to being attacked wasn't absurd, and it doesn't scare me from riding with you again.

What is scary as fuck were those intoxicated (on alcohol, drugs, power?) cops driving on the path post-Greenlake race at high speed. I thought they were going to run us over, and I've never had the same fear about CM riders.

I was there on the viaduct, I was right behind you when you pulled that knife. I saw the whole thing. You were not being polite to the redneck and that's why you got spit on. We were all being a bunch of arrogant, self-righteous pricks that day and I was never more fearful of my life while riding that route. It was stupid and very dangerous.

Riding the viaduct was stupid, stopping all 4 lanes of traffic and causing miles of gridlock was dangerous. That's the kind of idiotic move that blocks emergency vehicles.

I'm sorry I called you a macho prick. Sorry you got spit on, but to say we didn't have it coming by riding onto a freeway is a bit myopic.

I'm sorry you feel the need to defend him, but last I checked mass was more fun when we difused those situations with kindness and understanding. 'critical mass might block emergency vehicles' is probably the worst argument against it ever. i assure you that not a single driver stuck on 99 during rush hour traffic is worried that they might be blocking an emergency vehicle and fretting about their decision to drive that route rather than another.

it's also not okay to spit on someone, even if they're being a huge prick. "he had it coming because he was a jerk" is the same rationale trevor used in threatening the guy, and neither of them was in the right.
