hi, seattle.
i'm rolling into your town next week, bringing tidings from chicago. i'd love to meet some kids, and see what the seattle bike scene is all about while i'm around. anything going on?

sincerely,
emily.

edits---
being more specific:
perhaps i should add that i'm staying with some friends who live out there. we'll be partying.
i'm borrowing my friend's bike for the week. i'm hoping to fix it up in exchange for the place to stay. ideally, i could do that somewhere with a decent mechanics set up...anybody work in a shop that encourages after-hours bike fixing and beers? i'll donate booze if you donate your bike fixing space!

being less of a stranger (danger!): i work in bike advocacy in chicago, for the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation and the Chicago Dept of Transportation. public outreach and community education. trip to seattle is my vacation, but i'm not opposed to doing a little peaking into the seattle advocacy realm while i'm out there. i generally ride a custom built fixed gear, courtesy of Norway Cycles. i like brunch, drinking in parks and alley cats.

our two regular rides will be going on

tuesday 7pm from red square (middle of UW campus)
thursday 7pm from westlake (downtown)

if you're from out of town, those are good rides to go on... let us know you're from out of town and we'll make sure you dont get lost and back to where you need to be.

got a bike?

all depends on the night. sometimes 5-10 miles, occasionally 40+
tuesdays are generally smaller maybe 5-20 people, thursday on a sunny day can be 35-50 people.

the pace doesnt generally move too fast, we might have moments of hauling ass for a bit, but we wait and let everyone catch up. generally out to parks, firepits, beaches, and bars.

according to my records: bollards always win, nuts always lose, and skinny dipping is precarious when cameras are present.

Sweet! Any chance you can bring me a shop sticker to remind me of my Chi town roots?
