Golden Retriever Vs Tour Rider = instantly taco'd wheel and an embarrassed looking dog. If that was an aluminum wheel, that dog would have broken ribs.

Stupid pet owners! put that fucking dog on a leash! I hit a dog near Greenlake and limped around for a month afterwords.
The owner threw a ball into the street and the dog darted out between two cars.

I've broken quite a few wheels. Far more aluminum than carbon. In one race I got in a crash that ripped out 1/3 of the spokes on my front Zipp (carbon) wheel. The rim was still perfectly true, I replaced the spokes and it was good as new. The one that I did manage to break didn't fail catastrophically either, it was just a couple of cracks at the rim that I didn't even notice until after the race. That was after I crashed and had no less than three guys roll over it (and me).
I would say that the way that rider hit the dog (at an angle as opposed to head on) had more of an impact on the wheel failing than the material. In the clip you can see that he tries to steer around the dog at the last second and strikes it with the side of the wheel. Pretty much any wheel that went through an accident like that would taco the same way. Cranted an alloy rim would yield instead of splinter, but at that point it doesn't make much of a difference. Just less pieces when you are done.

At any rate, if I we're competing in a race like that an some asshole let his dog on the course, I would find that pet owner and beat them with the remains of my wheel. Yes, even if the pet owner was a small child.

Don't worry, I don't race (and therefore don't crash) on a triple.

my thoughts esactly...infact i was hoping to see said dog AND owner get pummeled by the rider and found like rather lacking in redeeming qualities not seeing this happen.
only a true american loves to see vengeful violence
