My frined Boo just ordered a sweet li'l LHT and was all set to put Honjo hammered steel fenders on it. The company she oredered them from said they were the last pair and sent them well wrapped in a box with "DO NOT STACK" labeled on the box.

When she opened them yesterday they were slightly crcreased from being bent. The package looked like someone tried to fold it in half. WTF?

I told her these could easily be re-shaped and the crimp worked out.

Right? I mean other than aesthetic damage, the integrity of their ability to keep rain off her ass is not affected.

Should she try to get compensated or just nut it up and have Aaron try and bend them back and fix the crimp?

Let me just state that she was more excited about getting these particular fenders on her bike than the bike itself. Women are finicky that way.

you can easily file a claim with fedex online, should be able to get all your money back from them since they were damaged in shipping. if shes ok with starting the whole find/buy/ship/wait process again

Clearly, they are t3h suck. So the deal with shipping insurance is usually, it's to assure the shipped item arrives in the same condition that it was shipped in. Clearly, she has a valid claim. I would call FedEx, explain that you ordered some metal bike fenders, they were badly damaged in shipping, and that you want to file a claim for the damages to the fenders you ordered. Unless you take them to someone who knows how to hand lay fenders (yeah, good luck with that), they are likely to be a total loss in the eyes of FedEx, and they will cash you out for the price of the fenders plus shipping, or the max ammount of the insurance, whichever is lower. See below.

This is also pretty likely true. So while you are waiting for FedEx to cash you out, anyone of a number of skilled metal benders like Aaron, Charles, or myself, could likely get them to work. Then, once the check comes, you can opt to get new fenders to replace them, or keep using the damaged ones.
