Minor thing: I rode Stone Way last night and I believe the left turn onto Stone Way isn't exactly where I've represented it on the map posted at seattlelikesbikes. I think we'll technically be turning at the light at Bridge and Stone, not onto 39th.

This merge to the left from sharrow lane to left turn lane is bound to be a little tricky, so beware.

BTW, that road is FUCKED UP now! From no markings (34th to 35th) to sharrow (35th to Bridge) to bike lane (Bridge to 40th) to sharrow (40th to 41st) to bike lane (41st and beyond), with a striped parking lane along the curb that looks way too much like a bike lane. Stoned Way.

heres a novel ider...tell whats-her-butt, Jane McCarthy (had to look it up) to show up at Gasworks @ 4:45 with a news crew and she can interview anyone she'd like.

Hell folks from the CBC will be there and they're better prepared to walk the media walk than the rest of us clowns.

i told her that folks wont be meeting till 4:30 or 5 pm at Gasworks then there should be plenty of folks to talk with. I gave her my description and said i'll look for her.

She'll be camped out at Stone Way.

I just talked to her too. Pretty much what Trev said. They can't meet me at my office, so I really can't do anything before 4:30.

Jane says she's "encamped" along Stone Way, so they're definitely covering the ride. She asked about when we'd be coming up the Stone Way hill and I said hopefully around 5:10.

She confirmed that she's already spoken to the Fremont Chamber and PROMISED that she'll cover our side too.

She was aware of the BGT opening and I made sure to tell her that the timing is NOT coincidental. The people be speaking!!!

Ok, this is a little off-topic, but I'm still annoyed by this Fremont bike-related sign

I suppose most motorists don't look at or need this sign, but the fact that the layout on the sign doesn't reflect the actual street/path layout annoys me everytime I walk past it.

I haven't been on a ride with you beautiful bastards for almost a year now, but I've lurked the forums and kept up with this whole thing. I'm real proud of what you "biker bullies" put together today, and had a great time riding the loop.

If anyone puts tv news coverage up, can you please post a link?

I stopped at chatted with the "Bikes are Bullies" guys for about half an hour.

Their fear is that their delivery trucks are going to be delayed by 30 minutes going up and down Stone Way. If you didn't notice, they looked to be in their 60's and were near a paint store and a print shop.

They claimed to have had no knowledge of those bicycle master plan meetings or of the complete streets meetings. They apparently first got wind of this 6 months ago, found some report that claims traffic is turning to gridlock because they don't have four lanes for the ENTIRE length of Stone Way, and told me that the Stone Way Hardware guy had to wait 30 minutes one day to get out of his business parking lot. They are worried about the reduction in lanes and that it will put them out of business.

They don't have a lot of walk-up or probably any bike-up traffic because their storefronts aren't condusive to it.

Anyway, they have been holding business group meetings (apparently involving SDOT) with no bicycle input for 6 months and now they feel like we are trying to bully the city into taking away their extra lanes.

Since I work over in Fremont, I am going to try to have a longer conversation with them. The businesses would like us on Woodlawn, but there isn't a stoplight to protect the crossing on Bridge Way...and it still doesn't solve the pedestrian issue.

I do find it interesting that we had a year of bicycle master plan work, not sure how much complete streets work and they didn't know about any of those meetings, but then they had 6 months of meetings and can't figure out why we weren't at their meetings.

They seem like nice enough guys, they are just frustrated and imagine a sea of gridlocked cars preventing them from doing business.
