That's right, the Fremont Chamber continues to insist that this is NOT Business vs. Bikes. They're simply trying to keep us safe -- gently nestled in Suzie Burke's pillowy bosom.

They were still there at 9am.
I'll check on them again at noon.

I did some flyering monday at 34th and stone, then at 34th and fremont kitty corner to seth. Most folks I talked to seemed interested, a few said they already knew about the ride and would be there, and a couple just ignored me completely. I'll be out again today. If there's anything else to do besides flyer, lemme know.
ps-sorry to hear about your cat, Henry. Since we're kind've in the same neighborhood, post a desc and I'll keep my eyes peeled as I roll thru on my way to UW.

I was planning to hand out flyers somewhere on the south side of the Fremont Bridge this afternoon for an hour, but this cold is getting to me.
Yesterday, sitting at the bottom of the hill on Dexter right next to the light worked well. A friend who works downtown thought the bike volume today might be 2x that of yesterday and I handed out 100 yesterday.
Sorry to bail on you. It sounded like a couple others might be in the area, hopefully someone can cover this spot.

I'll be down in the Fremont bridge vicinity after 5 for a bit. I can work out with whoever's there what corner needs covering - I imagine it's a lot like how those sign holding 'hobos' divy up the good freeway offramps.
Posted at work. Gotta couple handbills too to hand out.

I have about 100 handbills. I'll be riding over Dexter and across the Fremont Bridge in about half an hour. I will grab the first unmanned corner with a stop light I see.

Posted up at the bottom of Dexter/Westlake before people crossed the Fremont Bridge. Lots of people were already aware - from a variety of sources. Others were new to the idea and receptive. Most people wanted a 530 - 630 time frame. Maybe for the next ride? Also, let's not be even the slightest bit doscouraged if at 430 at Gasworks we don't have a billion people. They will meet us. Promise!!!
I felt like a little tramp on the corner, till I got a sign from the interurban and then I felt like I was promoting a car wash. Either way, many, many, many people said "Thanks for doing this."

The statues were still sporting the SLB posters this morning. Nice going!

They are quiet people, but they love cyclists! Thanks for the update.
Perhaps tomorrow they will thank all the riders from today.
Then on Friday they will holler at Suzie.
Unlimited potential there, really.

I was flyering at Stone & 34th. Two guys in spandex told me that they'll be at the ride because of "the cute girl on Dexter who gave us a flyer". Way to sell it, Laura!

I felt like such a nerd. Really, talking to people isn't my thing. Guess that doesn't come through to others. I just want to say that I wouldn't do this for any other cause or with any other group ... *sniff, sniff*

I wish that crew could get bicycles and quit standing around in eternal wait, but cheers to them for holding up our signs with such stillness!

It does feel weird to stand out on that corner, especially while waiting for bicycles to show up, but you made an awesome impression! Thanks!

Well, when I was at the same street corner, nothing too risque occurred.
However, I cannot speak for the time that I wan't there.
And while I was crossing the street - mind you this was 50 feet away and from behind so this is somewhat conjectural - I could have sworn there was some waving of that poster board in a fashion that looked suspiciously lascivious. I can't be certain of that - just sayin' that's all.
Personally, I think Laura should be commended for going all out for .83 and the cause. Bonus points if she was using her wiles too.
