My ass made Q13's 10pm newscast (at around 10:25). I was towing the Burley, with a friend and her 8-year old on a tandem nearby.
No wonder that guy let us cut into the left turn lane.

Hey, I said I'd push you in front of the cameras. If that's not my version of trust, you don't know me.
So were you just late, or late because you were talking to Ms. King5 on Stone Way?

Yeah, put bikes on Woodlawn and the pedestrians are still screwed on Stone. SDOT took out their crosswalks "because unprotected (no stop lights) crosswalks on 4 lane roads aren't safe".

KOMO 4's "coverage" was ridiculous. But they did let us know that the Biker Bullies guy is named Gene Slagle. According to Google he lives at 4317 1st Ave NE (two blocks from my house) and his phone number is 547.7779.
He owns AAA Mailing Service at 3540 Stone Way. Check out the bikes in the photo on his home page!
I found the nugget below from the August 2006 Fremont Chamber of Commerce meeting minutes.
Stone Way Repaving:
Marko attended a meeting in June where he learned for the first time of the City's plan to turn Stone Way from a 2 lane road to one lane each way with bike lanes and a turn lane in the center. He urged the City to call another meeting to include impacted businesses, held at Daly's on June 21.Suzie reported the North Seattle Industrial Association has long designated Stone Way as a major truck route. It needs rebuilding and drainage work but simply asphalting will not do the job. She also noted that the Fremont Neighborhood Plan called for the bike path to be on Woodlawn Ave N. Suzie will draft a letter from the Chamber proposing support of keeping 4 lanes, only doing paving in combination with work on the street bed and drainage, and traffic control that enhances pedestrian safety. She referred the group to a letter from Gene Slagle, AAA Mailing Service, to the Chamber concerning the Stone Way/41st pedestrian accident. (copy on file at Chamber office).

Hmmm. There seems to be some confusion here between Woodlawn Ave N (a few blocks to the east) and Woodland Park Ave N (1 block to the west). Suzie is advocating for the former, but according to the P-I story, Gene was talking about the latter.
In any event, we've already had this process, and Stone Way was picked for good reason. It actually goes from the trail to the lake directly, with signalization at all arterial crossings. The only other street for which this is true is Aurora.

On further review, Aurora doesn't go to the trail, unless they've installed the world's coolest corkscrew ramp when I wasn't looking.

I'd say it's an ok article. The average schmoe after reading this story would think that sharrows are inherently less than and not as effective as a bike lane. Not so, refer to previous schpiel about riding downhill in bike lanes! In this particular application a sharrow is not the correct treatment to use for a climbing lane because the lane is wide enough to accomodate a bike lane and allow for faster moving vehicles to pass slower moving vehicles without being obstructed. In situations where the lane is too narrow for a bike lane and too narrow for a car to safely pass a bike within the lane, then a sharrow is appropriate and a cyclist should take the lane and a car should wait to pass until it is safe to do so.
As for Mr. Snyder's incident, "A few days ago, Snyder says, he was riding in the new Stone Way sharrow when a car darted rightward into the "shared" lane to get past a left-turning driver, cutting Snyder off", And this has never happened to a cyclist in a bike lane?
The issue is about the city reneging on it's commitment to the BMP and the original plan for Stone Way, which called for a road dieted configuration (two lanes with a two-way center turn lane) along with a bicycle lane in the uphill direction (climbing lane) and sharrows on the downhill direction. It is not about whether a bike lane is better than a sharrow or verse vicea. Both treatments can be very effective if used properly in appropriate applications.
Now I'm going to ride Beach Dr. with it's brand new sharrows and see if I get yelled at for riding in the lane whilst I avoid cracks, seems, potholes and ravines.
Regarding "Cyclists ride for the right to bike lanes" [Local News, Aug. 2]: The demands of these nontaxpaying bicyclists to play on streets they don't pay for, without any kind of license to be there, with a total lack of respect for any law except for "me first and me only," should be met with a law that restricts bicycle use to individuals 12 years old and under. The rest of 'em need to grow up.

yeah, i sent a nice letter to the editor back.
i decided to ignore his trolling and focus on the most egregious error i see repeated over and over again, that cyclists somehow don't pay for roads. shit dogg, if ya'll want to start paying the property tax at my house, i'm all for it. but until then, learn a little bit about how local road systems are funded before you open your mouth.
we really need to hammer home to people that in general, cyclists subsidize motorists on the roads - not the other way around.

Dunno man, someone with the balls to post their ignorant rants on the intertron behind their real name should get more respect than that. Maybe someone sending him a calm, well-written letter is a better retaliation. Much better because it's creepy as fuck.
