I'm surprised there isn't already a sticky. For those not going camping this weekend there's always bikes and beer. The BAW may still need volunteers as well. Follow the link below for details on that.
Grab your bike and slip into your alter-ego because New Belgium's philanthropic cycling circus Tour de Fat is coming back to Seattle! Costumes and decorated bikes reign supreme as the participants come for a casual ride, good music and entertainment, then stay, of course, for the beer. Amid the hoopla, Tour de Fat also raises money for the Bicycle Alliance and Bike Works. Admission to the Tour de Fat is free. Tell your friends, mark your calendar, and design your costume.
When: Saturday, August 11, 2007
Where: Fremont - at the corner of N 35th St & Phinney (2 blocks west of Interurban statue and one block north)
Parade and Costume Ride 11am - 12 noon, benefitting Bike Works
Beer Garden open with musical acts 12 noon - 6:00 pm, benefitting Bicycle Alliance of Washington

Ahhh poo. I have another weekend class. I was so looking forward to this. Is it only a day event, or are there evening happenings?

That sounds like a lot of fun. Seeing as how i dont live downtown, or know very many people there, would someone want to be my biking buddy for that day?

It was fun last year. I took my (then) three year-old and we rode in the parade and then watched the shows.
I will miss it this year as we are out of town for a funeral. My brother-in-law Randy passed away after a 10 year battle with brain tumors that became brain cancer.
We are down on the WA coast and there is a beautiful trail on the dunes called the Discovery Trail, so we're doing our own bikes and beer thing here.
Last year when he was still healthy we got Randy a bike and the last time I rode the trail was his first ride. They have extended it a bunch since then.
If any of you are ever down here (Ocean Park, Long Beach, Seaview) you should check it out.
