First aid kits are always a good idea, you never know when someone will need a bandaid or athletic tape or neosporin or advil... or whatever else i have in my bag of wonders. i'm a bit anal about never leaving the house without it, especially if i'm on my bike.

I'm posting this here instead of derailing the other thread...

I think an awesome alley cat idea would be a "First Aid Kit" ride like last years Patch Kit ride (that I missed). I don't really have the necessary knowledge of the city to set this up though, but I would happily help. My general idea is to have riders compete to build a complete bicycle related first aid kit. Make people study up and answer quizzes at check points to receive an item to complete a kit. Alternatively, if organized well enough, we could try to get someone official to provide some pre-race first aid training to those who want it. If people don't know the quiz answer at a check point then they can read a manual to learn the answer. Of course, allow everyone to complete their kit at the final checkpoint/party even if they didn't reach all the previous checkpoints.

I'll personally help fund supplies, first aid merit badges, and spoke cards. Actually, I think a first aid spoke card indicating "rider has medical kit" would be a pretty sweet thing for others to start sporting. I'll run a checkpoint and provide whatever assistance I can be. If people want to discuss this chat me up at Tour de Fat. I probably won't be at a Tuesday or Thursday ride for the next 5 weeks unless I try to connect with you guys late.

I'm totally down to help with this. If I see you Saturday (and I'll be there) let's talk.

I'll cut myself if I don't get a "rider has a first aid kit" spoke card soon.

I can help donate supplies for the kit.

I bet we could get Group health to donate "ouch pouches" I got one last year at the film fest up here. It came in real handy when alyrae went down on some gravel going down to golden gardens.
