My friend Rob (editor for Carbusters Magazine) is holding a DIY workshop/Yard Sale this Saturday in Fremont (noon-5 p.m.).

We'll have a bike stand and tools for basic bike tune ups.

Rob will be teaching a DIY class in silk screening.

I don't have the address so PM me and I will give you my phone if you are interested in hanging out with cool people *myself not included. It's located just blocks from the Buckaroo so don't sweat it.

From his email:

i will bring all the materials you need to build, stretch, cut, melt, and print a rubylith silkscreen in the old-school style (cutting, not photo emulsion). i might ask for a few bucks to cover materials exepenses. please bring an 8x10 design with you. simpler (fewer lines to cut) is quicker and easier to do. for an intro to the process, check the "teaching" links at the bottom of http://www.zverina.com/contents-activism.htm

also bring paper and/or clothes to print onto.

rumor has it there will be a bike mechanic or two there with stand and tools, so ride your bike and learn a little about basic repair and maintenance.

if you have a do-it-yourself skill to share, please consider bringing it, even if only as demonstration. our hosts have plans for the evening, so it will end promptly at 5, so if you want to silkscreen, be there no later than 12:30. if you just want to hang out, drop by any time before 5. also, adria will be having a yard sale that day starting at 10 am.

Pffft... whatever. I am teaching effective use of hair gel, proper techniques for rolling your girl pants and a course in ironic musical tastes.

Theriously!
