Best new half-baked idea: The mayor's Bike Master Plan is like a bike that's missing a bunch of parts. So ride idea: everyone deliver a bike part to the mayor's office. Incomplete bikes to match the mayor's incomplete BMP.
Here are a couple of my variations on that theme:
Everyone bring a bike part to Westlake Park, our crack mechanics try to build a bike out of it. Deliver the monstrosity to the mayor.
Skit where we go to buy a shiny, basic bike, labeled 'Seattle's Bike Master Plan', from the mayor. The mayor starts taking away parts of the bike ("The Fremont Chamber of Commerce said your lights and reflectors were too annoying"; "Businesses in West Seattle wanted me to take off the pedals, because they stick out as you ride by", "I'm taking off your brakes, because you really only need this big stick", etc.).
Similar graphic: Promised Bike Master Plan: shiny new bike;
Bike Master Plan as delivered by the mayor: piece of crap with obvious parts missing.
Ideas?

I was counting on other people explaining it like, say, you, Derrick. Particularly since I'll likely be up on Whidbey. But here goes:
The mayor (among others) is supposed to be participating in a photoshoot (see link for details) downtown next Sunday. Derrick's idea is we all show up and crash the shoot. We'll supply the flashy signs, you attach them to your shirts. Something like:
Nickels: Give us the Complete Streets You Promised
Along with flyers we can pass out should anyone want any more details.

Cool, I meant to show up for this but I was lame and ended up yakking with Aaron over at his shop and then going home and working on my bike with a sledgehammer and angle grinder.
So, in conclusion, I've got some slightly mangled and chopped up bike parts I can contribute the Frankenbike.

Now that you mention it, we were planning on having events on the Wednesday after Critical Mass (changed our plans this month, but that's still the plan). And the Wednesday after October's CM is Halloween. We could build a Frankenbike for the Halloween ride and deliver it to the mayor. Or more than one. Sort of a Ghostcycle redux, with weird, defective bikes appearing all over the city with our message. Something like: we were promised a solid bike plan for the city, instead the mayor is creating a monster.
P.S. I still think we should dress in costume and hand out candy and bike stuff to children. There's nothing that says every ride has to have a big political point.

I've baked this idea a bit, and here's what I came up with. Everything tentative, I haven't cleared this with anyone:

Meet 4:30 Westlake Center. Bring a bicycle part and a letter to

5pm We ride to City Hall, and deliver the letters and bike parts to the mayor's office.
Can't make Oct 3? Drop off your bike part and your letter at
any of the following locations, and we'll deliver it for you:

Training Wheels Club Office, Magnuson Park
Reused Cycles <address here>
<etc.>
There was a problem with my previous idea of delivering just letters: the mayor's staff packs up at 5pm, and we can't rely on people showing up earlier. But I think the visual of a big pile of random bike parts is compelling enough we don't need any reaction from city hall staffers, so we can show up any time before 6pm (when City Hall officially closes). Should security raise a stink about the hardware, we could just leave the pile in City Hall Plaza (and deliver the letters).
Also, we could collect parts all through the month of September, which gives us a way of keeping the idea out there without actually having to organize a ride. Periodically we can take a picture of the growing pile of bike parts (which somehow I get the feeling is going to end up in my garage) and put it up on the website.
Anyone else have any opinions?

One idea if we have to put it in the plaza: Epoxy. Bring along some JB-Weld or other epoxy to create an art sculpture out of it that is one big mass and looks larger and more impressive. (I haven't used the stuff, so take my suggestion with a grain of salt.)

JB weld takes time to set. So unless we do this monstrosity at some other location and time, i dont think thats gonna work.

If JB-weld takes too long to set, maybe just enough wire or zip ties to hold everything together? I guess it depends on how many parts we are talking about, I don't want it to collapse and put a spoke through someone's arm either. If it is big enough, and in one mass, it might be harder for the Mayor's staff to remove and more likely to be photographed by the news media.

Zip ties would be efficient, but it would be advised to get a large amount of standardized zip ties.
Plus, you can totally run zip ties up and through a pig head, making sure it's secure. JB welding a pig head just sounds like a bad idea.
