September 4th will be my first .83 ride in 3 months. I spent a month and a half in Switzerland, so I'll be bringing my pot and making emmentaler (aka "Swiss") cheese fondue with dumpster bread, probably.
Plus, I took a spanish "cooking" class here in Barcelona, and can now make sangria. You wouldn't believe how amazingly difficult that is. But hey, at least I got to drink it when I was done.

Because I'm not feeling especially creative right now, the location I have in mind is 'that park' on Mercer Island, like a certain waffle ride I know of. Anyone have any better ideas for this party (location, recipies, routes to burn calories if you feel the need, etc), let me know.

I've got a fondue pot and a love of cheese based cuisine.

This won't require electricity like waffles do, maybe we should do it at Carkeek or Lincoln Park?

I'll bring extra lactase for similar genetic deficients as myself.

yes but to make a chocolate fondue that isn't going to break you need to add fat. usually heavy cream. chocolate fondue is really just hot ganache.

Ok, we have two pots dedicated to cheese (mine and Henry's), and I think Lucia has another we could use for chocolate. I know she's been collecting second hand fondue forks for everyone. Last I heard she had 24 or so. And don't worry that they're used; you'll probably be sharing a pot with Henry and Derrick, swapping spit that way. Plus, I bet she might even wash them for you.
I'll be bringing a small bottle of kirsch (80 proof cherry alcohol) that is supposedly a required ingredient for swiss fondue.
Actually, now that I think about it, Derrick will probably just be dipping corn dogs into a tub of cold nacho cheese.

Ah, so you're the one who cleaned Grocery Outlet out of those things. Were you the one that bought up their supply of 5 lb blocks of Pineapple flavored Philly too?

Remington: Yes, I have a fondue pot (color: harvest gold). I will even try to procure another as I search for more fondue forks at the Hobo Bloomingdales/Goodwill, etc. My current count is 24. Yay for your bottle of kirsch! Also, I will do some recipe research.

Derrick: Don't forget your extend-o-fork.

extend-0-fork, roger

in a pinch, people can just use extra spokes as forks.

Pinching a little harder, I would like to see a bicycle wheel built with fondue fork spokes.

Who can make that happen? (Laura, I'm borrowing your line here.)

I've got two (2) shitty (read: thin metal bowl) fondue pots and a couple fondue forks I haven't managed to lose over the years that I can throw into the mix.

If I got bored enough I bet I could braze fondue forks (which are probably stainless steel) to spokes (which are stainless steel).

Fondue ride sounds like fun and I haven't been on a Thursday ride in ages (or in Seattle much in ages).

Oh man, I wanna go on a fondue ride. Magnuson Beach out at sand point has some nice shelters, not sure about power though. I strongly encourage setting up fondue there. Mostly because I could actually join the ride there after 20:00.

Kirchwasser (kirchwaßer?) is a requirement for fondue, especially if you play the fondue drinking game: for every item you loose of your fondue fork you must take a shot.

I thought about the drinking game, but we're going to need a bigger bottle...
Magnuson sounds alright to me.

Depending on the goals of this game, I will either win or loose outright.

If it's at Magnuson, I might be able to talk the missus into loaning our fondue pots and forks (all from Goodwill, I'm pretty sure).

Also, there's an outside chance the corn will be overwhelming us by Sept 4, in which case you could stop by our place on the way over for a snack.

Wait, wait, wait. Was this determined in the original fiesta thread? Is there a TOS on fiesta?

Canned corn? Maybe if you're camping or the power's out, but frozen corn doubles as an icepack, so that's what we have at home.

For the most part, that is. Every other year I try to grow my own, and this is the lucky year. Sucks about the crappy weather, but it still looks like I'm going to get a good crop, and there will come a time in the next few weeks when the number of ears ready to eat will overwhelm the four of us. If it's around Sept 4, then it's fiesta fondue (I'm not sure that works, and the stuff should be so good that it needs no condiments, but whatever, you can always just grill it). If it's some other week, we can grill it at my house. Stay tuned for further updates from the Farm Report.

I don't think there's anything (TOS?) that says we Can't do fiesta fondue... Just so long as it's not anything like the photographic example of "Derrick Fiesta..."

I will be experimenting with recipies before the ride...

Hey guys, I'm going to have to push the fondue back to Thursday, since I haven't prepared for this at all yet. Tomorrow night I'll recruit volunteers to hit up the bread dumpster, bring some cheese, wine, dunkables, whatever, and figure out how many pots are coming. See you then.

Don't count on my corn, as it isn't close to overwhelming us yet. Plus the squirrels may have discovered it, although the damage so far has been minimal.
