Cliff Mass (UW Atmospheric Sciences professor) usually gives a weekend forecast on the 2nd hour of Friday's Weekday program on KUOW (around 10:50 am) that is detailed and eerily accurate. Listen for that. Don't trust 3-day forecasts much, and don't just read the forecast, because they have to cover all their bases (as per the 'thunderstorms' predictions here today and yesterday).
greg, i might not be able to catch that. Is it too much to request for a wether post after his prediction?
Per Murphy, Cliff Mass gave no forecast this morning, begging off with a short 'it will be wet'.
SOME FOG AGAIN SATURDAY MORNING BUT UPSTREAM SYSTEM WILL BE MAKING ITSELF FELT WITH HIGH/MID LEVEL CLOUDS STREAMING IN. RAIN WILL DEVELOP ON THE COAST AROUND 12Z AND INLAND SOMETIME AFTER 18Z. RAIN WILL CONTINUE OFF AND ON THROUGH THE WEEKEND AS A CONVEYOR BELT BRINGS MOISTURE TO THE PACNW. FOCUS OF MOST OF THE RAIN WILL BE ON VANCOUVER ISLAND BUT THE WASHINGTON MOUNTAINS WILL GET A SOAKING AS WELL. SNOW LEVEL JUMPS TO 8500 FEET SUNDAY IN THE WARM SECTOR...SO AS THE CLAUSIUS-CLAPEYRON EQUATION HOLDS...AIR MASS WILL BE MORE MOIST FOR COPIOUS MOUNTAIN RAIN.
It'll start raining sometime around 10am Saturday. It will be wet. But it will be warm, so snow should not be a concern. Note those last 3 words: copious mountain rain. Those of us staying in the lowlands will just get wet, but you campers should expect to get very wet.
Have fun.

We're working on it. I've got Remi in my car already, however if Ben wanted to coagulate, I'd be down. My number is 303-946-8183. I'm not gonna be checkin e-mail all nite. So when and where EXACTLY is the meeting spot, that we can ALL agree on!?

Now I hear that's going to be a roller ride at a trailer park, after which they will camp hobo style under a near by bridge using only newspaper and cardboard to keep warm.

Uh, you missed out on pretty much all the fun. As soon as you fools left, the mist cleared, the clouds broke and we even saw some sun! That was the actual weather, not just the way our spirits lifted with you gone.
We made good time into Roslyn for food and drinks at The Brick, meeting Dan (Foo)'s parents and Trevor's babymaker, less the spawn from earlier in the day. Hung out a bit too long, so we had some fun finding the campground in the dark. By fun, I mean getting cold and rained on, overshooting the turnout by 4 miles, getting lost in the actual Salmon la Sac campground, heading back to the main road and hoping that Trevor would eventually come bail us out. Good times.
The usual debauchery ensued when we returned to camp, if a bit subdued because we were all cold, wet and hungry. Except for Sketchy, of course, he just went apeshit, with the usual shouting, falling over and insulting everything around. Last night's special addition was stumbling into the darkness, leaving us wondering if he'd passed out dying of hypothermia somewhere.
Uh, I'm tired of synopsing, so folks can fill in more details. We had great weather on the way back even on the we(s)t side of the tunnel. Only in the last half of the ride did it start coming down.
Now it's time for a hot shower and some warm food.

Thanks, also, to everybody who helped make this trip possible. Trevor, even if you did get us lost in the black woods, you came and found us, and got the whole thing started and did so much for it. Dan, thanks for the ride, and I'll get you back for that juice and chocolate sometime. Thanks also to your parents for brining supplies and shuttling us tired bodies to Hyak. And especially thanks to Anette for coming out despite feeling unwell, waiting around for our slow asses coming out of the tunnel, and putting up with Sketchy. Hopefully you'll be able to join in the fun next time.

Awesome awesome.
FUCKING AWESOME.
All you who bitched out missed out.
As pretty much designated trip photographer I give you:

I'd like to send a very heart felt THANK YOU to Dan for stepping up and giving me a hand with this. It was nice to really have suggestions and feedback coming more than days before the departure date. Couple that with your very sweet folks (they brought us a dozen fresh cinnamon rolls from the bakery on Sun morning...ZMOG), made for a great addition.
Thanks also to Andre, who wanted, but couldn't come...you offered good suggestions, and to Ben for suggesting the start/end point further up the trail...good call.
Those that actually WENT, you all ROCK! I would have been a sad panda if it were less than the contingent we had. I'm dreadfully sorry (as you all know) about the campsite overshoot, but no blood no foul, rescue and debauchery ensued. Aden, those pictures are FUCKING AWESOME!!!
for those that pussied out, well need I say more (oh, and did i hear the seahulks got assfucked by the stealers...again?...ooops!)? We've seen more rain on our regular weekday rides than we saw this weekend. That ride was easy, easy, EASY!, and beautiful to boot.
Ben...YOU WERE WRONG...there was no rain up there during the day (only once the sun went down). SKETCHY is not to be trusted (ever) with itineraries on things he knows nothing about. I am not allowed to give directions...ever. Updates to the TOS must be made.
Kalen,
Thanks for thanking Annette for her effort, i'll pass that on to her. She came up after puking all morning, put up with Sketchys BS all night (she was going to park the truck on his tent), and waiting for 2+ hours at the trail head because we thought it would take an hour to come off the mountain (flats and pictures ruined that time line), but still be in okay spirits. The girl deserves a medal!

No problem Sketch. I'll always be there to look out for others when they are about to waste their energies on failed search and rescue. Ultimately thanks for everyone who put this together!! It was a blast!

My photos are up here, and in the .83 flickr pool.
I only drove most of the way (Sketchy's fault...), so Aden's photos are a little more interesting. My video, on the other hand, is something else, but that will have to wait.
