As I posted here: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/401219341.html

If I had another CM of inseam the bike would fit me. As it is, having the nuts sitting on the top tube makes me nervous for a bike I wanted to use for cross. If there is a .83r that is interested let me know. I'd of course like to recoup my cost, but I'd much rather see a nice bike get built and ridden.

I take it this frame has a ridiculously high BB, in the classic toe-clip clearance design of cyclocross frames. I was going to cobble together and all arounder bike from a trek multi trak frame that measured 57x57cm but with the 700x35 tires the TT was nestled pretty high. Upon sloser inspection the chainstays were almost parralell with the ground.

Do you have something else lined up? I've got a 56cm redline conquest pro frame that I might be selling. Would be fine for racing, I'm considering something a tad larger for longer saddle periods in a non race setting.

Yes, the BB does seem to be higher than my Kona. I'll need to recheck the standover with wheels. Since I already have an AL bike with vertical dropouts I'd like to go with steel frame and horizontal drop outs to attempt racing a single speed. I'm sort of stalling until Bianchi comes out with the 08 San Jose's to decide what I want to do. Raliegh's new one way seems pretty classy as well, complete with brooks leather saddle and bar wrap. Its more of a bob bike than a CX bike though, and the cables apparently run under the top tube instead of above it. If someone had a beat up Surly cross check that fit me I'd happily trade for the Wynn.

I really wish the Wynn fit me though, the fork and brake cable routed through the seat stay are just neat.

if you can get $300 for the wynn, you could pick up a crosscheck frame for just $8 more.

Mmm...I think the 58 may even fit. I'll hold off on punching in the CC number until after my bike fitting on Wednesday though. Thanks for the link!

I built up joeball's Trek Multi Track into a SS Cross bike (http://tinyurl.com/yurhen). It raced fine, but it's probably too tall (Jamie can ride it at 6'1", but he's probably the smallest with fatty tires). I'm selling it and getting something a little lighter/nicer and capable of flopping over to run fixed.

I'm looking at a couple options right now:

1. IRO Rob Roy http://irocycle.com/iro/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3
- Probably just do the frame since the complete bike is trimmed out with she-ite
- 2. On One Pompino http://www.on-one.co.uk/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=187&MMN_position=278:278
- I think the bike as-is is pretty nice, but I'm looking into parting it out to get it just right

I'm really leaning towards the Pompino as just a frame and building it out. If you are interested I might be able to get a better deal on two frames. PM if you are interested. Compact "Cinelli" geometry. In fact, if you want the 54cm (fits like a 57) I know of one that I can probably get ~cheap.

I had looked at the pompino before. An interesting bike but I'm not sure I like the 120mm rear spacing. Would make a difficult conversion to a hub gear later, if desired.

If you are interested in the Rob Roy check out the current group buy being planned on bike forums: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=333444. I don't recall seeing what the final cost for the frame will be.[/url]

looks like at most $160, possibly less. that's an amazing deal for that frame, if i had a use for it i'd totally pick one up. i just don't think it would work so well with 26" wheels.

The Pompino is now being made with 135 rear spacing:

"Rear spacing: 135mm or 120mm. With 135mm, you can use 130mm road hubs with a chaintug on the inside of the dropout, or just pull the rear triangle together. We've tried both ways and it doesn't seem to mind to be honest."

Hair height does not count. You are 6'1".

I'll interpret that as a "yes."

Not really. I'm appreciative of the help during my pitiful collapse. Otherwise I'd still be on the side of the road in Elma this morning.

Stop derailing this thread! - Single speed cross bikes are this shit.

I got on the IRO Rob Roy list. A little soft on the details (price/date/color), but he expects prices today - I'll post what I find out.

Date -> 3-6 months out! Fuck that - I'm getting a new Pompino.

Dan Wynn is an excellet frame builder and a good friend of mine. Anyone would be very lucky to own a Wynn. I worked with him in the early 1990s at Alki Bicycle Company when he had his frame shop there.

$300 for a well made fillet brazed cyclocross frame is also a deal. I'd buy it if it fit me. It's a much cooler bike than a crosscheck.
