yeah. i rode with the group before i saw the website and i think that made some difference. people are pretty nice in person even if the rides are crazy sometimes.
what were you riding? i vaguely recall meeting you at some point in the night...
Yeah, upon closer inspection, I am clearly in violation of the TOS, Guidelines for the use of the Forum, Rule 1. I didn't introduce my n00b self. I presume I incur some sort of penalty for this oversight.
Hi, my name is Matthew, and I ride the orange Trek Portland, amongst several other bikes.
Before you become the 74,368th person to tell me, yes, I know I look like Billy Corgan. No, I won't sing you "Bullet With Butterfly Wings". Maybe "Disarm" if you're hot and single.
Finally, the vicious rumours you may have heard about my inability to comply with .83 Mission Statement objective #2 are sadly completely true.
But before you kick me out over my genetic alcohol intolerance, I'm totally down with being the teetotaller with a presidential commission to bail you out at 2AM from getting in a barfight/spending the night in jail/sleeping facedown in the gutter.

I have a old dehydreator thats gonna see some serious action shortly. If any of you growers want to dry stuff we can consider setting up something. it's only a 5 tray'er, but it does the job in 24 hrs or less.
If anyone wants, I have an old one that anyone is welcome to. It's going to the Salvation Army otherwise.

100 pounds of green tomatoes picked before the frosts come and stored somewhere dry = 95 pounds of ripe tomatoes from Halloween to Christmas (roughly).
That is, unless you get late blight, which is quite the possibility this year. Keep the fruit off the ground.
The frosts aren't coming yet, but if you've still got tomatoes in the ground, I'd pull those plants up and move them somewhere dry. If you don't, you're liable to end up with a lot of black tomatoes.
You'll want to pluck the fruit off the vines soon, but they'll keep on the vines for a while if you're in a hurry. If they're still green, don't worry; more than half of them will ripen before Thanksgiving. If you find a severely overripe but otherwise okay fruit, squeeze the seeds out onto a non-paper plate, let them dry out, store them someplace cool and dry, and use them to start next year's crop.
