OK, the month has passed, the concoction is nearly complete, I really want to burn holes in youre brains and watch you all crawl around in the dirt hating the small green fairies dancing in the woods...
but two of the people I really want to come along are having problems attending. (You fucking ingrate wankers)
So.
a question about technical details... I can do it this tuesday, or a tuesday in september....
Edit:
(as of 10 minutes ago, moving the ride to monday will cost me $225 in lost work, and the Absinthe won''t come out till 3 AM if we do it during the eclipse. )
Edit:
(BTW: you can't just vote... y'all need to justify yer Poll answers to prevent me from being arbitrary as I am just slightly less democratic as Joseph Stalin)

3 am is way too late!
September 18th is best because I'm back from my California road trip. :D

john,
i was too busy reminiscing about my loathing of the glam rock era and missed your point about monday being DOA.
I'm gonna do a write in vote for this thursday. Last tuesdays group was huger that you might think, therefore making no actual distinction between the two. Also 'cause with my work schedules changing, i'd like to be present and accounted for this as I may not make many rides this winter (sad).
if ya want to make this interesting, and its participants worthy (gawd, i'm gonna regret saying this) come up with an obnoxious location or make us follow you. I know your fast enough...ya came in 2nd on the DBBDHR.

OH yeah, the path includes many miles, trespassing (not as good as the run down the BNSF tracks, but y'know...), some cyclocross (pretty tame). You may want to borrow a cyclocross bike Trev... theres a bit of a dirt run...
It's the kind of ride I like to do.
and I just added a secret ingedient to the mixture that will have us all turn into piles of QSF.

Absinthe fountains, spoons, and other accessories are on sale at my store for 20% off. Of course, that means that the fountain which does little more than look pretty and dispense water is closer to 200 dollars instead of 250.
This sounds like a perfectly treacherous idea for a ride. I'm down.

I refuse to believe that 3 am is a real time because I haven't seen it in X years, where X is how long it's been since I was "young" and "cool".
Therefore I vote for the September date. I have never tried absinthe and quite want to.

I like september ... i played hooky too much this past week and can't be slouching around ... a crisp fall ride with a nice big moon should be lovely in a couple weeks - yes?

neither of you have been "on" absinthe, correct?
you will see the sun rise
you will not feel crisp
you will not recoginize the moon
you will play hooky the next day

Correct, and that is EXACTLY my point. Screw the moon, the crisp, and whatever else. I trust you hooligans and still can't do it this week. :)

As long as this event takes place on a Tuesday or a Saturday night, I'm OK with seeing the sun rise. I believe a Tuesday is already planned for?

Upon further reflection, a Saturday would be good... I could possibly do tomorrow, but since I'm planning on watching the eclipse tonight then that would be 2 really late weeknights in a row.
I can't do Tues Sept 18 because I will be in Hawaii.

Likewise, for me. (the watching the eclipse, not the going to Hawaii bit. Kat, is Hawaii vacation or conference?)
Although I'm a little dubious about by ability to wake up at 2:30 AM, I'm going to give it a shot. If anyone else is interested, I can haul my scope to a good observing location for this.
PS: Laura, I'm going to have to concur with Henry, you trust us jackasses? Just becasue that's warmed my heart so, I've got some Colorado oceanfront property I'm wiling to sell to you ar mere cents on the dollar.

What kind of off road are we talkin about?
I want to come with, but I don't think I'll be drinking that stuff, and I don't think I can too far into the evening.

Where in this thread did you see anything about offroad? That has perked my interest much more than the drink...

Im just curious as to what a bit of a dirt run includes, as I have an allez with slicks on, and don't want to go gallavanting about in the woods.
I also don't want to carry my bike too far either.
