I am hoping someone can provide me with a contact for a laser cutting wood project I am working on. I have an AutoCAD file which I can send out. I only need inside cutting done on the work piece which will be already cut to size. I will need four of them cut out of 1/8" plywood.

Anyone?

Denny, doesn't UW have a laser cutter? I can get access if they do, but I don't know if they do or not.

Thanks!

The mechanical engineering shop has a waterjet that would get the job done. Not sure how much smooth talking or $/hr you'd have to part ways with.

You can always try mfg.com :)

The wife has student access since she is a grad student. I think it's pretty much making sure we go when there aren't other people trying to get work done. Set-up is the bitch, but I think I could do the whole thing in 90 min or less. I only have about 65 linar inches to cut and I think I can stack four layer of 1/8" plywood for one pass on the CNC router/laser/water jet.

I'll wait for her to finish with comps.

I don't know of any commercial laser etchers in the area (although I've been toying with the idea of just building a CNC one myself) but goold 'ol Lady Ada's got a listing of commercial services and ones' down in Portland.

I'd be extremely surprised if the UW doesn't have several laser cutters, but I don't know who's in charge of them. It's often easier to cut the general outline after lasering the details.
