it might be easier for me to just try to meet later as well. maybe i'll just find somewhere to ditch my car and then do the noob flail until i see you, as i haven't met a lot of you yet.
Definitely go! It's always worth the effort, the lack of sleep, etc. and you find ways to navigate Friday with minimal sleep ... :)
Hey, thanks to all of you who came out and made the ride. As always, I had a good time. Hope you all did as well.
BTW, hope you kiddies who went south made it back okay. We almost went face first into a sage bush 'cos none of us northbound hipsters were uncool enough to run a headlight. It was great.
See you tomorrow for Critical Mass!

Dude I had a headlight, I just refused to believe that the goddamn path would just stop like that. FOOL THAT I WAS.
At least my pants smell sage-fresh right noww.

I hope the rest of the ride went ok... as far as I can tell, that ride was cursed from the outset. (Who let Langston choose the destination?) Were there any more mechanicals after I took off (shortly after the derailleur explosion/single speed conversion stop)? Thank god for John's amazing and wonderful wife, who was there to pick my sorry ass up and take me home within about 20 minutes of the accident. With a fucking ice pack in the car. Also, thanks to Ro and Lucia for the first aid, and to MikeOD et al for the bike inspection. Have I ever mentioned how much I love this group and its community? You all are awesome.
Yeah, so my elbow's pretty busted up, but it's just a flesh wound... no major bleeding or broken bones. I definitely have a headache though, and my helmet is fucked. My head hit pavement like a coconut. Let this be a lesson, kids: wear a helmet. If you're particularly attached to your brain (as I am mine).
So my motto from now on: Hills are great. Hooray for the hobo trail. Forest forays under complete pitch blackness? Fine by me. Rides with no hills and just straight, perilously gravelly and uneven roads that go on for fucking ever? Count me out.

Man, that ride was fun but cursed. We had, what 4 mechanicals and Kat's injury by the time we hit the flight museum? That's like 2 1/2 months injury/damage quota in 90 minutes.

and then six of us made it to the five point? minus pj diddy who turned around ad ate shit. fortunately he got to his friend's house, though with destroyed glasses and a nice lump on his noggin!
still a fantastic ride, I feel bad for those that got hurt, mechanicaled, or otherwise turned back. boo on langston and balls for not following through to the pit... not the most impressive thing ever, but a good ride and ambitious destination nonetheless!

Despite the many, many pitfalls that beset us from the start, in the end it turned out to be quite the epic ride. Thanks for a great time and I hope that everyone made it home safely!
I mentioned this before, but... would anyone be so kind as to make a Google Pedometer link for this evening's trip?

wow, hot... jk?
I'm still bruised on the hip a little after my similar fall 1 mo. ago (more due to my fucktardary than shitty road groove). My left wrist is still bruised, but gettin' better (I am a lefty :(, learning to be ambidext... nvm... personal). See how you feel tomorrow for CM... Prolly feel a lot like shit... run over... by a car... riding a tank... surfing on sandpaper....
John,
I guess I got off w/o those punches. HA! Take that Jonny "eye-liner" whatever-your-last-name is Depp.
Rest of the ride went awesome, except for Paul's glasses.
Did everyone make it home alright? We lost Happy Stick Person, didn't have his number... you okay? we waited a while

my apologies for anyone who didn't have fun, crashed, got lost or is hungover today. I was very disapointed that we had such bad luck getting south, but jebus y'all have some bad luck. I'd hate to see what happened if all y'all tried to commute by car, we'd have chaos!
I couldn't make the final leg to the pit, I only had so much time to be out last night due to a 5:30am alarm clock. I rolled in the door at 11:30 after leading the northbound pack back up the Green River Trail (not the awesome, backroad version we took down). I totally forgot the bike path ends there by 509!
I made my 6:30am bus and boy am I tired today. 70+ miles yesterday, ~140 for the week.
burgers at 2 Bells was a great idea, although a bit pricey. The quality was worth the price, but I couldn't afford to eat there often. Happy Hour ever?

No mechanicals after Theresa's well-timed flat. I'm very impressed by teh Joby's navigation skills. Dave, did you peel off and take 4th Ave S. back to Seattle? There's a swirrly spot on Evan's map where we stopped to wait for you at 99 & Marginal... wait, wasn't it at Marginal & Hudson/Dawson?

I was with you guys til first, then I peeled off... I thought everyone was headed to the bread dumpster so I took a shorter route through sodo to jackson and then home...

Good to hear that you made it back safely! Definitely takes priority over a 10-minute wait or so.
I agree that the hill was retarded, but I suppose that since our entire ride was on flat roads, it made up our climbing quota for the evening. :-) Joby and Lee, you guys have the 1337 climbing 5k1lls!
After having ridden with this group for approximately a month now, it seems to me that there is a real need for riders to have a way to contact each other, so that people can find the group if they get dropped or take a spill. Would it be possible to set up an e-mail address at Point83.com that people could send messages to, which would then be automatically forwarded to other people's cell phones? Just a thought...

we've experimented with www.dodgeball.com but I think people were irritated with mass text messages, and some folks get charged per mssg.

or we could just fucking wait for people to catch up. Not leaving until everyone has arrived at the square (especially when we KNEW someone was almost there) would be cool as well.

I didn't expect anyone to wait. The busses were really screwed up yesterday because of traffic.

There are a million cool technological solutions we could do. With the breadth of nerdery in the crew our options are pretty much limitless.
But when it comes down to it, you just need to prepare yourself.
that was a great ride last night. i was exhausted when i finally made it back to ballard.
finishing off the last of my booze while watching the colbert report @ 2am, drinking a shit-ton of water, and then sleeping in till 11 am: ftw!

I was totally spent when I got back to W.Seattle. Riding to and from Bellevue before adventures to Kent turned out to be a recipie for exhaustion. The ride to work this morning was.... semi lucid. Fun riding with you yesterday, seth.

I realize the Essential Baking Company is very close by, but I'm fairly certain any dumpster at this location or on the same property is not the one you're looking for.
Or does Essential have some special dispensation from the City of Seattle to locate their dumpster on the grounds of the Transfer Station?
