great ride! wlc -> beacon hill -> seward park for fondooby-dooby-doo -> everyone but those following me taking the long way to the zoo tavern -> knarr for the hardcore!
also, i was offered marijuana twice tonight. be proud of me?
whatever happened to derrick, he was surlier than ben - apparently the patch isn't quite as effective as sucking down a pack of marlboros.

sweet god 5:30am was too early today.
That was a great ride, thanks for everyone's efforts and energy. I hope the sangria was palatable. I was munching some of the fruit later in the evening and it was great.
I got lost trying to get out of Seward, luckilly I reorientated before I ended all the way up in Renton.
I need a shower and I have terrible cheese farts.

There was a moment on the way home when "two roads diverged into a dark night and sorry i could not travel both." A decision had to be made. Follow Lee or someone else. Well, getting up the backside of the hill to Roanoke was easy-breezy-fun. Lesson learned = follow Lee!
Plum wine = yummy.
Stout fondue = exceptionally yummy. (would love that recipe)

Oh man, that was a great ride. I'll be honest, I almost turned back at the red apple because I was feeling like no one I know was there and I didn't bring anything to contribute. But I'm super glad I didn't because the ride was great, the food was AMAZING, I met more of you crazy people and now, the farts tell an epic tale of fondue defeated.

Oh, and as a TMI followup, a quart of chocolate milk, a couple pounds of cheese, IPA, assorted donuts and copious biking combine to form very odd metabolic byproducts.
This isn't the usual billirubin phonebook yellow here, this stuff is seriously day-glo. It's like peeing out a 1989 Trapper Keeper. I'm a little concerned.

Bike Piles
A bike pile is a cluster of two or more bicycles which are locked together for the purpose of mutual security. These spontaneously occurring formations appear throughout the city, often outside of establishments that serve alcoholic beverages and/or fried food items. When a group of cyclists arrives at a given location, there are rarely enough stationary objects to allow each bicycle to be secured individually, and a bike pile will arise.
If your bike is participating in a bike pile, and you are leaving the location before the rest of the group, you will often need to facilitate the unlocking of another bicycle or two before you are able to free your own bike and be on your way. If you don't know the owner(s) of the other bicycle(s), a shout out to the group with the bike's description is usually all that is required to locate them.
Occasionally, the somewhat unusual situation will arise that your lock represents the sole link in another bicycle's security, where detaching your bike from the bike pile results in a single bike being left completely unsecured. This might happen, for example, when another rider asks you to lock their bike because they forgot their lock, or they're too lazy to retrieve it from their bag, or, if it's BtAH and he's been hanging out with Professor Dave, lost their keys. Another possible scenario is that another rider has a mini u-lock, and was unable to get their frame close enough to yours without scratching one or both, and found it easier to secure their lock around their frame and to your lock, thereby allowing their bicycle to participate in the bike pile.
If you find yourself with this solemn, though possibly unwanted, responsibility of ensuring the security of another's bicycle, it is incumbent upon you to locate the owner of said dangling bicycle before leaving. To simply unlock and leave the other bicycle unattended on the sidewalk late at night is unacceptable. Again, if you don't know whose bike it is, a slightly more urgent shout-out to the remaining group, something like "whoever is riding a so-and-so bike, I'm unlocking and your bike will get stolen if you don't come deal with it", will probably locate the owner in no time flat.
For reasons detailed above, when attaching your bike to a bike pile, it is advisable to attach to another's bike frame, rather than to their lock, whenever possible. If you are unable to avoid putting your bicycle in the compromising position described above, take it upon yourself to inform the owner of the other bike, and ask them to notify you before they leave.

Yeah, who was taking pictures? 'Cos there's one out there that got me point blank with fully dilated pupils, you wanker. I still have a big red spot in the middle of my field on view.
P.S. Bike pile is like chinese pickup sticks, only with less bamboo. The goal is to make as few of the bikes shift on each other, causing unwanted scratches.
