So, is this BYOKit or do you get a kit to start?

I've got a kit, which I perennially forget at home but I've got lots of extra wipes, swabsand wet wipes left over from combining multiple kits that I can donate.

Hey! I'm glad this is happening, but could we push back to a week later? The 22nd is Strarcrossed at Marymoor and the decibel festival. Also, Kat could make it if we pushed it to the 29th.

I'll start harassing my Drs. If you're going on the ride tonight, and it makes it to Magnuson/Mathews then lets chat. I want to help.

Something that first aid kits should have: Spenco 2nd skin hydrogel bandages. Best Thing Ever for road rash.

Have you ever tried that spray on bandage stuff being sold now? Seems like that stuff could be handy, especially for large areas of road rash.

Considering I'm tending my first road rash right now, no, I haven't tried the spray-on stuff. The 2x3 squares of hydrogel (also not terribly cheap) have sufficed... and actually are really doing nicely. Gives the fibroblasts and other healing-type cells something to crawl onto and stay moist, so they can start knitting together new skin.

It's like a little cell culture system on my elbow.

you should use tincture of benzoin to glue cellophane to your wounds... That would be kind of like those new bandages, but it would burn more. And maybe not work. But it would be funny, and your skin would be a dingy yellow for weeks.

I've used Tegaderm with some success. If it wasn't on my knee where it would get pulled loose and start to leak, I'm sure it would have been great. I ran out of the stuff replacing it each time it pulled up after a few days, then I let it take it's natural course, which seemed longer. If you want to see Tegaderm in action, click here.

Dirt is almost as effective, and has the added bonus of carrying tetanus. (It's dirt, not rust.)

Hey - last thursday, I had a dark-red (myoglobin-colored... aka exposed muscle... YUM) dime-sized hole in my elbow. Today it's down to about 2mm across, with the rest covered up by nice yellowish fibroblasts.

Third-degree road rash can require skin grafts. Good thing mine was so small.

kids are invited, if you want to bring them!

Mannnnn, I just remembered my friends are getting married that day in Yakima. The same wedding for which the bachelor party is killing the camping trip for me this weekend.

I really must sit Jon and Adrienne down and have a little chat with them about proper scheduling...

Maybe this was already covered (because I didn't bother to read the thread), but doesn't the Wayward close at like 4 or 5? How short, exactly, is this alleycat?

Please don't make it a girl-ride, please, oh please.

Since it's technically an alleycat, which means racing, which means speed... it won't be exactly easy. Safety first, but you know... speed & miles second.

Around 20 miles? Which for me is an hour. Add it stops with some small activities... I figure the fastest riders will get there by 3:30. Plus, some hills.

I'm glad you're riding!

Some decent prizes from:

20/20, Perfect Wheel, Montlake Bicycle Shop, TimBuk2, Lush, Alyson Rae, Lucia, R&E Cycles, Wright Brothers, Free Range... and more!

Let me see...

When Allison is on a ride, what are the priorities? This is my guess:

Getting to the desired destination
Pissing off motorists
Safety

Hmm... safety 3rd... sounds good to me.

And consider that I typically don't make it all the way through my priority list

Well, there would be no ride if there are no people to help it happen.
Plus, it wouldn't be fair to everyone else to let Perrin compete. She'd just make you all look bad.

The best part about alleycats is that even though as a card carrying Junior Squid I've been known to dabble at speed on a bike, I have only a small idea of how to get around in Seattle. This means I will probably finish in last place or worse! Hooray!

Count me in, if I get home from Georgia early enough on Friday.

yeah I've only been riding in Seattle for a couple months but I always carry too bike maps in my bag and I ain't afeared of much. Good thing I bought a helmet last weekend.

Let's hope my hip is in decent shape by then, after today's wreck it's a little wonky.

I just looked at my calendar and saw that I have a training to do first thing in the morning that doesn't end until afternoon, so won't be making it.

Ya'all know it'll be a much safer alleycat without me, anyways, so have fun and don't forget to wear those paper mache helmets, kiddies! After all, safety first!

Unless you're me, then livelihood first.
