If we do Matthews or Magnuson we can come back up via the excellent climb to Wedgwood. It's a narrow, steep, wooded, rural road in the middle of the city.

Then walk. It's ridable on a fixed gear, it's only a 10% hill for about 3/4 mile.
Honestly if you can't handle Seattle hills on your fixed gear then you should get gears...

Aah, 42nd/92nd! My standard way back home after riding north. Quite lovely after riding a century, or just a short ride in the rainy October darkness.
I'm not sure I'd call it rural, though. The houses are too close together.

Swimming is why I suggested Magnuson or Matthew's Beach.
If we go to Discovery we should ride through via Blue Ridge. Excellent riding and a neighborhood that could use a touch of .83. Of course then we might as well go to Carkeek which is a better park than Discovery anyway.

yeah it is. There are a couple secluded (private?) beaches out that way. The only downer is that it is a bit of a dead-end neighborhood on some serious hills.

You can loop through it without hitting any dead ends.
You can't avoid the hills, but they are a lot of fun (both going down and up) and if you start from the north end then you have more descending than climbing. The only climb brings you back up to the top of Golden Gardens, where you just have another nice descent.
