Btah and I, Sketchy, are going to be hiking to the enchantments near leavenworth from the 20th to the 22nd of Oct. It will be the first weekend after the 15th and we will no longer need a permit for these dates. This is a hike and sorry but a bicycle is useless for this thing. If any one is interested your more than welcome to go. But temps can become damn cold at night, around 20 to 30 degrees at night and 50 or so during the day. clothing of quality will be a must. no chacos ect. I got to go ben wants laura to spank something.

no, we plan on going up the colchuck lake side and comming down that side also. because it's about 6.5 miles to the upper lakes that way. The upper lakes are what the enchantments are really about. as for going in the other way you have to go for 6 miles to the first lake and another 5 or so to get to the upper lakes. and that route was in a bad forest fire a few years ago. Its longer and not senic at all. I can't spell. hay put spell check on this thing.

I'm in. I have all necessary camping equipment besides a legitimate tent (mine is from highschool and a bit ghetto), although by then I might just buy a $100 one from REI.

someone gmap-pedometerize the route you are planning on taking (ben?). curious about the exact routing and distance.

I'm probably in, as long as I don't have to tent up with Langston.

(I guess it wasn't that bad last time...)

I am intrigued.

I've been neglecting my hiking this year for biking but I've got a full cold weather kit (although my cold weather bag probably needs replacing) and I should be able to hammer out a good few thousand feet of gain a day.

Ummm, anything in particular the rest of us should know about? Snoring, uncontrollable flatulence, bedwetting, night terrors, reading pr0n in the tent?

I'm in if I can get a ride. Going up Aasgard Pass is something you want to do traveling light. Steep, steep. As I remember this is a no fire area. So take warm clothes and big boots, especially if there is any peak scrambling, Little Annapurna comes to mind.

One should also be mindful of the amount of snow that might be on the ground by the 20th of October. Aasgard's not terribly difficult, but it's a tad sketchy in places. Good footwear (warm and tractiony) is important.

I'll make a point to check ranger reports closer to the date to see if renting ice axes would be prudent. I always bring one when hiking under load, if just for the added stability.

that being said, there's an awesome scramble route up dragontail. Nothing like beholding Stuart in all it's Gothic evilness from the next peak over.

I would love to go. I've heard great things about the area and have everything I need to exist without bothering anyone else. How do I reserve a seat in a car seeing as I don't have one.

I can easily carry two passengers and gear in my car. Three would be stretching it but possible.

If there is any gear that is needed, you will be able to rent it from Feathered Friends on yale. Ask for daniel, He is one of my climbing partners and will hook everyone up with what ever. We did this same trip last year for 4 days. Start pairing up with someone, two per tent, there is no reason to carry extra shit if it is not needed. I we have 10 people we don't need 10 stoves or water filters. I'll
be bringing a white gas stove. At 7500 ft Isobutain stoves work like shit, propain is even worse. I will also have a water filter. Start getting dehyrated meals, there light and pack alot of calories. And all you need for them is hot water. and last but not least camera with lots of batt. People come from all over the world to go here, and there is a reason for that.

o and if you assholes plan on bringing anything to drink. make damn shure it is strong because doing a carry of beer up there would suck. and believe it or not, 3 beers at 7500ft could even fuck up ben.

I will be bring

1 dragonfly stove

I have an extra sleeping pad

I was at feathered friends today, we will be getting a 30% discount on rental

i can't go but i have a thermarest and two nice bags available for loan: a 15 degree kelty synthetic and a ~20 degree feathered friends down. both are for tall folks. of course, it sounds like most of the people planning on doing this have the right equipment already. =)

I've hiked beer, pans and stoves up to Camp Muir (10,000ft) with my dad before... I'm not sure if I'll be coming out for this though.

Lee, I might take you up on one of those bags. Mine's barely sufficient below 30 anymore.

I've got a stove and fuel bottles should any of the existing ones fall through, 2 man tent, ice axe and water filter. I've also got access to rope, crampons, snow stakes, rock pro and a whole host of other gear I'm hoping we won't need.

The good news is I got a sweet new job, the bad news is I probably won't be able to take time off to do this hike.

I do however have all of next week free to get myself into trouble. If I can't find tickets to paris for < $800 I'll be going on some kind of hike. Eh, maybe i'll do both.

henry, fuck paris, your going.

REMEMBER OCTOBER 20,21,22

I plan on leaving the night of the 19th a friday from seattle or early sat morn. If we can start hiking by 10am that would be ideal. that way everyone can eat a real breakfast.

YOUR ALL FUCKING GOING

I'll need a ride and there are no dogs allowed in the Enchantments. You wouldn't want some of these idiots drunk and around your dog anyways, you might end up with some really weird puppies.
