I'd say around 30 minutes is right. That's usually what the Cross C races run at the beginning of the season.
I am totally in on this. One problem though: my team issue kit didn't include a cocktail dress. (I can't believe I'm asking this...) Ladies, what's the fashion this season?

It's not about being in style, it's about being the best dressed and having style.
Me + Downtown Goodwill = fabulous
Matthew you are welcome to come along but I think a Monday raid of the Downtown Goodwill would prove beneficial to as many boys that can come.

In - there needs to be more grass root 'cross racing. It's a blast, and is really easy to put on.

I'll be there! I am too old and tired for a midnight post-CM race, so a Saturday morning race presents a rare opportunity for me to get a real neat spoke card (I say, making an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me') and finally be Somebody -- or at least be whatever it is you are if you're an adult who wants and gets a Point 83 spoke card.

Only if the hiking trip moves weekends. (unlikely, I think) Right now, the hiking trip conflicts with the other cyclocross race.

I know this is somewhat renegade, but I'd like to be a good neighbor after the race. Are there any plans to restore the area back to a renewable condition after the race? If so, I'm happy to help. If anyone knows guidelines on what should be done let me know and I'm happy to champion the process.
Obviously the barriers and course tape all gets removed. If you're good, you reuse a lot of it at future races. Seattle CX uses the same few hundred stakes and some 4 by 8's over and over.
In terms of "altering" the surroundings, part of cyclocross is that you ride it as it lies. But for restoring the grass to a pre-ride condition... You really can't do a lot. Fortunately, you don't really need to. The grass largely re-sets itself.

what Mathew said plus no barriers, there's plenty of stairs and roots in the park. For course markings I've got about 2 billion of those little construction flags which I'll pull after the race.

Fuck. My single-speed frame came...and they sent 120 spacing. My wheels and chainline of my crank are setup for 135 which they SAID they had. Anyone know another cross frame that does 135 Single Speed? Not interested in "cold-forging" 8mm/side.

Surly (132.5mm) and Rivendale (130mm) both come to mind.
