Dig this almost unadvertised City of Seattle website, where you can vote on where your area's meager sidewalk money goes:

http://www.seattle.gov/neighborhoods/btgnsfcrf/survey.htm

You have until the 27th to vote.

If you don't know what to vote for, just look down the list for areas near where you live or work, and I bet you'll be reminded of something that needs fixing. For example, 17th Ave NE north of the UW (a series of puddles and flooding when the rains come, due to the chestnut tree roots).

Also, when in doubt, vote for anything near an elementary school. Make those kids walk to school 2 miles uphill in the snow both ways.

Finally, on a bike-related note, there's a project in the North Sector to reclaim the Northlake Trail, which is what you used to take from Gasworks to Dunn Lumber before the Burke-Gilman was completed to Gasworks. It's still there, but you can't use it because the cars park on the path.

One final gleeful note: Read the descriptions and note how many times they list as a disadvantage that some on-street parking might be lost. Oh, the horror.
