So for part of the summer I was borrowing a bike from a friend, but I got a mountain bike for my birthday (discovered it had been stolen today) so I had been keeping her bike locked in the garage of my apartment and using my other one. I just moved to a new apartment 2 blocks away, and lost the key to her lock in the move. She doesn't have a spare. Here's what I've tried so far:

1) I had been told that you could open old kryptonite u-locks with the end of a bic pen. I watched some videos of this online to make sure I had the right idea, but couldn't get it to work

2) I tried my roommates hack saw, and nearly broke it. The damn thing wouldn't even make a groove.

3) hammer and chisel... no dice

4) I've been trying to find someone that can lend me a car jack, because I know you can break a lock by sticking the jack in it and then opening the jack so that it bends the lock apart... I'm hoping it won't break the jack if I find one and try this.

5) I've been trying to get the maintenance guy at the apartment to cut it for me (I know he has the tools), but he's extremely busy because of all the chaos of people moving in. I'm thinking I might try to bribe him with a six pack or roll him a joint or something.

anyone have ideas? She wants to ride critical mass tomorrow but I don't think I'll be able to get it figured out by then so I might try to borrow a bike from someone that she can use for the ride. I would loan her my bike but I just found out it's been stolen.

A) Where are you located?
2) If you can wait till Saturday, I can probably wander over with an angle grinder and some cutting discs.
III) If you have the number of the key and/or it was registerd with Kryptonite they will send you keys.
Four) Someone else on the board will probably be able to help you sooner.

Good luck.

So it turns out she had to work friday night so I've got a bit of time.

The apartment where the bike is located is at 4233 9th Ave NE That's on 42 and 9th in the U district... it's about 3 blocks from the freeway...

If you're still interested in helping me out give me a call 503-522-0372

I can certainly kick you some beers for the help!!!
