This hoopy frood believes that 42 is the best age, that and you should probably hook up with a pangalactic gargleblaster tonight, in honor of your perfect age. There's also a whore with 3 tits waiting for you on the planet Eroticon 6. Erik's mom know who I'm talking about, and he could get her name from his mom for you if you need to giver her a call. She isn't a taxi, so you may need your electric thumb to hitch a ride over there.

Ah, but is it truly a freewheel, or is it a cassette?

wtf is a cassette? Isn't it one of those old things that made music if you put them in a tape player?

No, if you put it in a cassette player it might play some music. You know, I had a TRS-80 which used cassettes as a storage media. I never successfully managed to save anything on a cassette, but I sure tried once or twice.

Some of you are at Nectar still, but ...
It was great to meet Gretchen, see Jessica, to find out almost everyone is younger than myself, steal Remington's plastic cleaver, drink from Kevin's pumpkin beer container, play soccer, safety break (thank you ALWAYS professor), drink in a school zone, wait for 25 minutes while Derrick repaired a flat, watch Miles jump rope, witness some serious tetherball action, see Derrick + Sketchy + Seven in store bought child-sized skeleton costumes, engage in a pumpkin fight of sorts, drink at Elysian's where they were OUT of pumpkin beer (!), sing "Happy Birthday" to Mike OD/OLD, and in general cause good-natured ruckus.
I think PJ Diddy said it best: "Thursday's are sacred. They are like church." AMEN!!! There are few places I would rather be on these Thursdays. I heart you all.

word. the pumpkin beer was definitely better than it had any right to be.
and thanks to J for making fun of the fixsters sans brakes, helmets, and booze outside of the Elysian after most everybody had left.
Straight-edged hipster with aerospoked front wheel, after overhearing said scathing commentary (paraphrased): "You guys are the reason the bike community is sick. I'm hearing a definite negative tone here."

I suppose I couldn't have said it better than Laura. I brilliant fall evening with amusing and adorable company (yeah..I'm talking about you three men with spandex camel toes). I'm sad I couldn't have Elysian-ed it out more, but thanks Miles for the tease.

As an outstanding member of this organization by the name of Point83 I must point out my third consecutive Thursday of making curfew in the later half of the ride. I accept full responsibility for breaking every single other rule.

Dammit, when I close my eyes I still see bicycle blinkies.
Off to work on five hours of sleep now!

He's got a point. I'd rather this fellow be on a bicycle than crusing Broadway in his, like, totally awesome 'marrow, bra. Eddlebrock intakes, etc.
Some of them actually are pretty fast or good at doing tricks. Come see for yourself later today.

Well, I don't see any reason to be hostile or hate on those people. They ride bikes for a different reason than we do. For some people, it's about fashion and trends, for some it's about riding really far, for some it's about riding really fast, for some it's about bag matching, and for some it's about drinking and carousing. There are lots of reasons to start riding. When the trend settles a bit, there's still going to be those guys doing backwards-360-wheelies with 650b front wheels. But in the end, there's going to be a lot of people who ride because they come to see the inherent social value of the bicycle.
Laugh at the trend, not the people. There are a lot people in the world who don't notice the difference between us and the 'fixter.' I've had many people respond to me when being invited to ride "oh, but I don't ride a fixie." Our world is pretty small and uniform to the outsider.
That said, put a goddamn brake on your bike already.
