Mayor Nichols needs to take some lessons from Bloomberg. Fuc, if NYC can adapt we can to!
...but then again, we ARE in the northwest (aka, retardville).
yes. so are we on for embarassing Nickels in November at the Climate Change summit? i'm going to email Hiller/yourself.
it's funny, i was about to defend the Northwest as _not_ being retardville, then my colleague exclaimed from a few offices over "I can't spell construction!"
*head--->desk*
then again, i'm a snobby grammar nerd.

Bloomberg might be the only conservative I don't loathe...wait, make that the only politician I don't loathe; liberals suck, too.

Are we talking about the same NYC that would outlaw many .83 rides without a parade permit? The same NYC that constantly tickets and harasses CM and non-CM cyclists for bogus offenses? They may have some good bike lanes but from what I've seen, you better have some ticket money and a spare bike if you're going to use them.

from what i understand though, while the nypd was handing out those tickets and trying to get those laws changed so they could curbstomp critical massers, the city was tossing them out and generally disagreeing with the nypd's approach.

i was just back east in NY in August. Brought my track bike out in a case and rode to work everyday from the bronx (bedford park & paul ave) to columbia univ. in manhattan(breakless of course otherwise i wouldnt have looked cool you know). It was a fast amazing ride and I have the bike-lanes to thank for it.
furthermore, ironically enough, i felt i was more noticed out there and that drivers in NY were more aware and respectful of your presence. beats me.
