My landlady just took out a giant fir tree. It's cut into rounds and some smaller pieces. Probably needs a while to dry, but if you want some firewood for later in the winter it should burn.
Anyone want it? PM me.

Seditious Canary for the win.
Yeah, bummer my landlady took down a dying fir tree that was planning to crash into our living room window. What a cunt.

It just pisses me off that she probably only did a laymans visual inspection of the tree and didn't bother contacting an arborist to see if anything short of removal was possible. Typical cheapskate landlord, doesn't even care that a nice tree increases the landvalue of her rental or that maybe an existant ~80yo tree has community value.

As opposed to your drive by inspection via the internet?
You want to talk shit about my landlady?
A couple of things:
She's the last home owner on the block who refuses to sell out to town home developers. She re-landscaped our backyard before we moved in (doing all the labor herself, yeah she's in her 60s and about 5'2"). She bought us a brand new washer and dryer. She put brand new carpet in. She came over on a Sunday night to clean out the backed up serwer line in our cellar. She paid my roommate $200 dollars to re-build a trellis that holds a 70-year old grape vine.
She did all this on an 80-year old house. Yeah, she's a real cunt for taking out a dying fir treee that was threatening to fall through our living room window.
How dare she!

You would not need to worry about falling trees so much if you would just wear a bicycle helmet!

I have the flu, and it indeed makes me grumpy. Guilty as charged. but but. I've never taken a 6mo hiatus, have I? Baring terrible weather and bloody-lung pneumonia, I'll be out for awhile on Thursday.
Jeff, it sounds like your landlord does an effective job managing her property. I just don't seeing/hearing about trees coming down when they don't have to. You say it was dying, it might have just had a fungal infection or something that could have been aleviated with a bit of spray and TLC.

actually a guy I (used to) know: "Bay Area rider Dan Plummer, member of Northern California amateur road-racing team Spine, was killed on New Year's Day morning when a tree snapped and fell on him as he began an early morning ride. Heavy rain and forceful winds wrecked havoc on Northern California last weekend, making the tree come down."
