The guys in the hard hats say they think they will be ready to have it open around 2:30 today.

It looks like we will be running through a U shaped chain link fence gauntlet under the bridge approach.

The friendly traffic directing construction worker who has been down in that area for months will occasionally need to stop the cyclists while they move heavy equipment across the trail but he says it shouldn't be more than a minute or two delay at any given time.

I'll do a few loops in an hour or so and give MOWAT and SDOT feedback if I notice any issues.

From the looks of it at the moment, I wouldn't try to do 20 mph through there.

IT *IS* OPEN!!!!

Hurray!

...just take it a little slow. The corners on the west side are very tight and very sharp 90 degree corners. With no other traffic, 15mph is the fastest I can take those corners without crashing. Given peds and oncoming bikes, I'd recommend slowing to 5-10mph for that 100 foot section.

This too is a detour while they finish up with the bridge mechanical and electrical (since it is a historic structure, they have to match parts and custom grind each gear tooth to match the wear on the corresponding gear.) work.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ( gasp ) YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I know there are people here who hate the BGT, but it's how i get to work, and not having to deal with the detour through Fremont everyday will greatly reduce my chances of becoming chunky jell-o smeared on the pavement.

Of course I'll get nailed at the Fred Myer, or on Ballard Ave.

It was glorious to ride through Fremont on the Burke - woohoo! The regular SUV-style-double-wide-strollers, wayward dog walkers, and generally confused pedestrians were out in force and it just didn't bother me. The weather is too awesome outside and it's great to have that little section back.

SLB people, should this be claimed as a "victory" on the website? Attribute the two Fremont rides as "accountability pressure" or something?

And Michael, aka Lord of the Fries, thank you for the updates throughout this process. :)
