Has anyone had to get a chimney swept before? And if the answer is yes, can you tell me who you worked with and if you liked the work?
Or if any of you with kids want to tie them to a rope and lower them in I can get the landlord to pay you for it. But it has to good quality.
Thanks.

My two cents: wait a few months for Santa Claus to come down your chimney.

I got my chimney inspected (but not swept) by Emerald City Chimneys earlier this year. They were recommended by the real estate agent who sold me my home (which, if you've bought a home, is a good resource for minor maintenance referrals like this, since they have to get houses fixed up all the time).
I hadn't used the chimney much at all since we bought the house, but after the power outages, I figured it made sense to make sure the thing could be used in the event of a subsequent power emergency without everyone dying of carbon monoxide poisoning. The inspector said the chimney was fine, but recommended some chimney caps to make them draw better (which we bought and had installed).
In short, they seemed like a good outfit, and I'd go there to get the chimney swept. I think they even have a coupon in ValPak occasionally.
