your unfriendly point83 tech department just wants to let you know that we're moving the website to a new server. process will start later in the day today. doing as much as we can on friday (then gone all weekend) and picking up the pieces and finishing everything on monday/tuesday
if the forums are offline for a day or 3, that's why.
and since im shameless... ive been paying the cost for hosting/domains and all that for the last few years because the cost hasnt been too high... but our forum traffic has been noticed by the servers we've been on and they got a little peeved (our forums put alot of stress on the server resources). that prompted the switch. i just pushed out another 120 bucks for the next year for this new server space, if anyone wants to help out with that, you can send a couple bucks by clicking on this link, then hitting donate:
http://www.point83.com/serverfund.html. instead of buying a pitcher of beer next time you go out, maybe think about putting it towards the server cost? buy the website a beer so to speak, for all the great things it's done for you over the last few years :)
ps, another way to say thanks for the work they put in on the site and keeping things online is to buy either henry or lee a beer when you see them.

I suggest everyone do this all at once on the next ride. Those guys can drink a lot of beer, but 20 of them? Beer-owned -- bOwned!

lee: it's quantity not quality for you, right?

Henry also likes positive affirmations and group hugs.

The forums are going down?
How are people going to keep up their 47 posts per day average?
Dark days, this is going to be like Y2K all over again.

Profit margins might rise as .83ers actually get some work done for a few days.

Over the weekend?
I guess I'll have to start doing some of the neglected chores around the house. I think I'll start by evicting that family of wild pigs from the living room.

I think all the hand jobs we give you are payment enough.
But then again, it makes sense to buy you beers as they are easier to give to you when you're drunk.
I mean... I've been told. So i've heard.
Allegedly.

I'm going to have to resort to crack and heroin to help me get through the next 3 days without my fix of point83.com/forum

... and we're back.
phpbb went up okay, coppermine gallery is still offline and we have a ton of photos to move, possibly just over to a flickr account. i was never happy with coppermine or gallery2, honestly.
i'm still hoping to get the bbpress working.
tos is offline for the moment as well. i'll try to have paper copies on the thursday ride for everyone to sign off on and agree to!

Ah, the Flikr pool is a nice touch.
Also, the search for posts by user feature is busticated now. Looks like there's a query to a misnamed/missing SQL field.

fixed.
i'd like to point out that debugging phpbb and fixing the damn templates are reminding me why i like working with bbpress so much.
