OK, new thread since the details are coming together. All updates and new details will be in this first post for those of you who don't feel like following the other ride threads.
It starts at the fountains at the N end of Cal Anderson, runs down Broadway to Pike and loops past Bryce's house before going up 12th to Volunteer park to regroup.
We then head down 10th to the accident site and cross the bridge to finish up the ride on the UW campus.
The family will be riding with us.
We have a pair of tandems for Bryce's parents to ride on and a bikes for Austyn and Tyler (Bryce's younger brother and sister). Thanks!

Brandon All American was hit by a car last night on his way to the Thursday ride. He ran into some of you guys at a park, I guess.
He's mostly okay, 'cept for his bike. Totaled.
But as always, LAME!
Looking forward to the memorial ride.
And since I never said it, Lauren and Caleb, it was wonderful to meet you, and again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

That and Alyson getting hit on Sunday, we're getting beat up pretty bad. Watch yourselves out there kids, memorial ride planning is a pain in the arse, I'd just as soon not to have to do one of these again anytime soon.

I have printed and cut 500 quarter-page flyers for people to hand out at CM. 400 of this new design and 100 of the one with Bryce's artwork. Please find me to help hand them out.

I passed out a bunch of mini-flyers at CM, but I still have 150 left. Find me tonight if you would like to help distribute them.

Dan called to check on folks the other night, so I'm assuming yes. I'll be there with the tandem to escort some lucky family member along the ride.

OOPS, my bad Henry, I guess you got dropped off the update distro, I'll be sure to include you on all the other emails!
Yep, things are coming together, there's some last minute route prep that needs to be done but we've got press, flyers, and everything else I can think of. The weather even looks not too terrible for the time of year.

Incidentally, regarding the route prep:
I think we've got enough people to pitch in but if anyone out there would like to participate in putting Bryce's artwork up along the ride route, give me a call at 206-353-7765 and I'll let you know where to meet us. I'm doing some sign prep at my house at 7PM and we're hoisting the new ghostbike down at the accident site at 9:30PM.

It's also on NWCN every hour on the half hour. It's stock footage and none of the ride, but talks about it.

Maybe there were too many posts on this or too few and maybe you cared or didn't, but either way it was nice to see a bunch of random people riding in celebration of someone who rides no more.
In just the past week we have seen articles on road rage against a cyclist on Stone Way and another cyclist getting shot with a BB gun in West Seattle. I would probably retire from riding without the presence of a cycling community to support me now and then. I like the .83 community, the community created via Critical Mass, and the even more random togetherness forged by these sorts of rides.
To all involved: thanks for getting this off the ground.
Everyone else, have fun, kick ass, and ride safe.

Thank you everyone who lent a hand in any way to get this ride put together and came out there today. I know the planning hit a couple rocky spots but thanks to everyone who humored me (or didn't), I hope I never get enough practice at this to get good at it.
It all turned out very well, I thought and Marc wanted me to forward on to everyone just how much this all meant to them. After the ride, Kalen, my dad and I hung out with Marc, Caleb and Lauren and they told us all sorts of Bryce stories. He was a good kid and I wish we could have known him.
The King 5 coverage was very positive and they did a good job on bringing up the relevant issues. My roommate recorded it for me and I'll get it digitized and up on YouTube or something for anyone that missed it.
Ride safe out there all you crazy kids.

My 5 year old and I were only able to make it very, very briefly to the eastlake/furhman intersection, coming from the north after the broken bridge was finally working again (we almost gave up!). I've got a few photos of the group riding down eastlake, probably not much more than that. Will post a flickr link when I can get the up.
Sorry not to make the whole ride, would love to have stayed for more.

Thanks. Is that's Bryce's step father on that tandem? Looks kind of like him (but I haven't seen them in a few months).

It is. Marc rode the whole route on Kalen's tandem.
My roommate took pictures from Eastlake and Furhman. As soon as he forwards them to me, I'll post them here.

AND DEATH SHALL HAVE NO DOMINION
And death shall have no dominion.
Dead men naked they shall be one
With the man in the wind and the west moon;
When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone,
They shall have stars at elbow and foot;
Though they go mad they shall be sane,
Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again;
Though lovers be lost love shall not;
And death shall have no dominion.
And death shall have no dominion.
Under the windings of the sea
They lying long shall not die windily;
Twisting on racks when sinews give way,
Strapped to a wheel, yet they shall not break;
Faith in their hands shall snap in two,
And the unicorn evils run them through;
Split all ends up they shan't crack;
And death shall have no dominion.
And death shall have no dominion.
No more may gulls cry at their ears
Or waves break loud on the seashores;
Where blew a flower may a flower no more
Lift its head to the blows of the rain;
Though they be mad and dead as nails,
Heads of the characters hammer through daisies;
Break in the sun till the sun breaks down,
And death shall have no dominion.

re: removed bryce lewis memorial bike
I send a mail to the SDOT regarding the removal of the ghost bike just before the memorial ride. I got the following response:
Quote:
Dear Mr. Ring:
This letter is in response to your inquiry regarding the removal of the “ghost bike” memorial at Eastlake Ave E and E Fuhrman Street.
Shortly after the memorial was erected, the City of Seattle began to receive a number of complaints regarding the placement of the bike. In an effort both to remain respectful to the gravity of the incident and also to accommodate the interests of other citizens, the City decided to remove the memorial after waiting a month from the time of the accident.
The bike and other memorial items are currently being stored at Seattle Department of Transportation’s Charles Street facility. If you would like to retrieve the memorial items, please contact Roxanne Thomas at 206-386-9060 or the main office at 206-386-1218.
Sincerely,
Brian de Place

Thanks for the heads up about this. I'll see if I can get this bike back. As much as I hope it won't ever see use again, I'm sure it'll get hauled out again at some point.

Quick followup, my roomate shot some good photos at the memorial site and forwarded me the Flikr link:
