I've always wanted to ride 99 and it was awesome to do it, but I wouldn't care if we never did it again. Personally, I just love having an audience, so I never feel like we spend enough time downtown.

While I'm no big fan of taking CM up 99, it is somewhat pointless to try and prevent it from hitting 99.

What I think are good ideas instead are:
1) as someone suggested, have some people take those portable radio walkie-talkies along. It doesn't have to be a big production, just get a few people to do it and make sure that at least one person is in the front and back at all times. If the back starts falling off, word can get passed up to the front at the speed of light instead of playing telephone.

2) When MAss heads to 99, folks up at the front should organize a splinter group that wants to stay on the surface streets. I saw this start to happen this month but the splinter group was jsut a desultory stream of people peeling off and it looked like they were just going to disperse so I stayed with the main group.

Instead, people who want to stay downtown and then surface street to wherever Mass ends up at should pack up right past the 99 onramp and start waving their hands or waving a sign or something to let people know what their intention is so that everyone, especially noobs, know that there is an alternative and that it will still be bike fun and not just a bunch of scattered bikers heading home.

Could we have one month, just *one* where CM isn't followed by a tedious debate of how we were on 99 too long, how it's scary at the back, how some people went too fast, how some people don't get what it's all *about!*

Let's try it next month, ok?

Please?

We'll have a month of no bitching about 99 the month we don't take it...

funny, i thought there was the idea of snaking CM around onto itself for the Oct mass?

that would be funny as hell...one big circle of bikes...gawd help the cars in the middle!

Does the CM in seattle go over 99 very often? I only went to CM there once (usually I was at work) and I remember going through the tunnel and onto 99... the tunnel is fun.

It's gone onto 99 twice since the beginning of summer...

I'm pretty sure the same kids lead us onto it both times.

Like I said, they just gotta be so cool, yo.

Ultimately, alls I got to say is that was a frickin' gorgeous ride and we are all extremely lucky to have seen a phenominal sunset from the most scenic road in Seattle! Sure one is fucked if they get a mechanical on 99, but that is life. One is also fucked if their car breaks down on certain parts of that highway, as well. I would kindly ask that people stop complaing about the logictics of Critical Mass. It's one of the raddest things that bikers can do- a celebration of two wheels to say the least!!

...and that's all I have to say about that
