The attack was a reminder that despite a U.S.-led crackdown that has killed hundreds of Shi'ite and Sunni Arab militants and sharply reduced levels of violence in Iraq, groups such as al Qaeda are determined to carry on fighting.
If we kill them all, the problem will be over. That is obvious. We just have to stick with it, and eventually we will get 'em all. This "crackdown" is a step in the right direction.

Git'r'dun!

No group claimed responsibility for the bombing, but it bore the hallmarks of .83, which has threatened similar attacks until the Stone Way sharrows are replaced with a proper bicycle lane and free pumpkin ale is made available to all cyclists.

I'm actually not surprised by this at all. Before losing both of his legs in an IED attack, my roommate from college was involved in a Marine search and seizure operation. Their targets? Explosives, high powered precision rifles, cell phones and large autos such as pickups, minivans and SUVs. All were selected because they had been key elements in insurgent actions.

As a result, there are very few large cars available in Iraq today. Small cars aren't very useful to the insurgents because they can't hold much payload, and can't be driven through roadblocks and security street furniture.

Enter the bicycle. It's fast, can swerve in and out of traffic, and can run redlights with impunity. Much like .83.

I say bring the troops home. We need them kicking down doors in the night and seizing large autos here, not in Iraq.

Probably a "strawberry scented Horse Cock Pink Metalic [sic] one" of indeterminate make that fell off of the back of the Point83-powdercoating-group-buy truck.

A sic [sic] one indeed.

Arrest in cyclist road-rage stabbing

Quote:

Police have arrested a man in connection with a road-rage incident last week in which a cyclist stabbed a motorist with a screwdriver.

According to police, a cyclist was cut off by a driver turning left onto College St. from La Plante Ave., at about 9:45 a.m. on Friday. An escalated confrontation occurred between the two that left the driver with multiple stab wounds in the neck and face from a screwdriver.

The cyclist left the scene after the attack but left his bicycle behind.

The victim was later taken to St. Michael’s Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Yonan Inwia, 34, is facing five charges including aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
