I forsee a future that includes a nice shiny brand new bicycle for you, Brandon. Don't forget how painful those "soft tissue injuries" can be, and how they take a few days to pop up ;)
Glad you're ok
get yer lawyer dogs on 'em!

you should ask foo about his accident and his subsequent kindly lawyer. glad to hear you're in one piece, man, keep your head down out there :(

Jesus Christ, Brandon, you've had worse luck than me this season. At least all of my wrecks were just on account of me riding too fast in the rain.

I'm assuming J is referring to my lawyer from the "Oh God, please don't report this accident to my 16 year old girl's insurance provider so they can ream me up the ass with raised premiums, please let me write you a blank check for a new bike, good sir" law office.

A bit risky if fake info is provided but it was a lot faster, better paying and less hassle than insurance would have been.

i recommend john duggan. he's helped a few others in this group as well - notably he handled alistair's bad wreck.

his info:

John P. Duggan
Cycling Attorney
Warren & Duggan, PLLC
401 Second Avenue South, Suite 600
Seattle, WA 98104
(206) 343-1888
johnd@warrenduggan.com

he's smart and savvy. in my case he gave me some pointers and offered to consult if things got actually difficult.

My good experience with John was similar to Lee's. He also followed up a few months later to make sure that everything was resolved. He isn't pushy, has lots of great information, and really seems to want to make the world a better place for cyclists.

Dealing with insurance was time consuming, but not too painful. You should get full replacement cost for your bike and money for time and suffering. Time and suffering seemed to be based on your salary, time out of work, money spent on other events that the accident caused you to miss, and then an arbitrary amount for the pain around all of this.

i will get in touch with that lawyer guy

im still pretty sore and the doctor prescribed me 12 weeks of 2 physical therepy sessions a week.

today he stopped by my work and he offered me 1000 dollars on top of a new bike and helmet and new jeans and shoes (money for all that stuff) but i rejected it and said i would work it out later

i dont know if im gonna really have to go to physical therepy i dont really want to. if i wasnt so young and didnt keep strong from eating 6 pounds of meat a day the injuries i got would probably be a lot worse but im strong so its not a huge deal. i really dont actually want to go to physical therepy but i dont know im kinda bad with my health.

im confused on what to do

DO talk to the Layer
DO go to PT

TRUST ME, time and 'uth will not be on you're side if your innards heal wrong. You will regret not following PT treatment. The bumper check I did (by being passenger doored) a decade ago has caused permanent damage to my neck and shoulders and if I had not been so damn stubborn about PT, I likely would not have the daily issues i have now.

love,

Dad

Yeah dude, when I fucked my knee when I was in the Marine Corps, I was forced into PT that lasted for a solid year. I hated going but it seriously helped a lot. I might have more problems with it later, but it's been pretty much fine aside from the occasional soreness.

Also, see if you can get two bikes out of the deal and get the second one around 64 cm. I could use a new one.

thirded on the PT.
I tore a knee up in college playing bone-head full contact sports and the PT was the best thing in the world... I showed up and rode an exercise bike, did balance & resistance work, and had hot physical therapists slaving over me for 6mos.

R&E is great for the insurance claims. $1300 is a new powdercoat paintjob, a stock front wheel and some bartape as far as they are concerned. FedEx scratched the paint on a frame I had bought on Ebay, and I ended up making money on the frame after R&E got their estimating hands on it.
