Thanks for the reminder to read this guy. I just spewed my coffee.

"This bicycle confirms what I've long suspected: like the Discovery Channel and most fans of professional road racing, God has given up on cycling."

This line especially made me laugh:

"Overall, just knowing that you’re riding a bike that puts a pair of pedals, a seat, and some handlebars under you in a completely revolutionary way is enough to make you drive that much faster when you’ve got this baby strapped to the rear rack of your Honda Pilot."

"Descends like a monkey with crampons being dropped out of a helicopter."

LOLZ

My dad got a Bicycling subscription when he first started mountain biking (I think it was free with the bike or something) and cancelled it after the first year. Then he fobbed all that crap on some sucker (read: me) when he wanted to clear up the space for his collection of old Commentary magazines.

The only thing worth reading in Bicycling is Style guy and even then only about one issue out of three.

my favorite so far: used bicycle buyer's guide.

also, dear blogspot (and any other web application developers out here): if i am browsing through a blog's archives, please don't break my back button. i don't want to have to manually page back through the archives from the start every time i follow a link from a post. dipshits!

While riding, make sure to go through all the gears, trying every conceivable gear combination. If the bicycle does not shift properly, it is possible that it is a single-speed or fixed-gear. If it is a single-speed, it will have no derailleurs, a lot of stickers, and possibly a bell on it, and the seller will smell of marijuana. To determine whether it is a fixed-gear, find a hill and ride down it as fast as you can. About halfway down, stop pedaling. If you wake up in an ambulance or hospital (or not at all) then the bike was most likely a fixed-gear. If neither of these applies, the bicycle is simply a geared bike that does not shift properly. Make sure the seller fixes the problem or adjusts the price accordingly.

Hilarious.
